Franking Labels

Friday, June 24th, 2011

For Franking Machine owners with hand fed machines, Label Planet stocks franking labels. There is one size of label that can be used in over 85% of hand fed franking machines; the size is 151 x 40mm and there are two on a little sheet with a gap between them. There is no border on the labels so they can be slid right into the franking machine.

The material used for the franking labels is 100% compatible with the machines and samples can be supplied if requested. These labels are very cost efficient and come in packs of 1,000 labels for well under £20.00 including postage and vat.

Franking machine labels are a specialised product and not really any use for anything but creating franking marks for royal mail letters and parcels. The labels are used when the item to be posted is too big or too thick to put through the franking machine.

Fluorescent Labels

Thursday, June 23rd, 2011

Fluorescent coloured labels are extremely bright and can be used on laser printers but not inkjet printers. Label Planet supplies these in boxes of 100 a4 sheets and also in bulk boxes of 500 sheets. The fluorescent colours are red, orange, yellow, green and pink, and these are available in 37 sizes.

As you would expect the main use is for high visibility, so warning labels of all kinds are printed onto fluorescent stock. They are also used to grab attention, to make something really stand out in a warehouse or shop or as a sign.

Fluorescent labels cost just a bit more than normal coloured labels, and Label Planet is happy to supply samples so you can see the difference.

Coloured Labels

Tuesday, June 21st, 2011

Coloured labels are supplied online by Label Planet. Stocked coloured labels can be printed on laser or inkjet printers and come in red, blue, green and yellow. All the common sizes are stocked in packs of 25 sheets for same day despatch, and most bulk boxes of 500 sheets are also despatched same day. Pink labels and cream labels will be stocked from July 2011 onwards. There are also circular coloured and metallic labels in stock in 25 sheet packs.

In addition to the standard colours Label Planet also has flourescent coloured labels and gold and silver labels. These are for laser printing only; if you put them through an inkjet printer then the ink does not dry properly.

Coloured labels can either be made from coloured paper, i.e. the colour is put into the paper as it is being made, or from coated paper which is white paper flood coated with a colour. The labels sold by Label Planet are all flood coated, which makes them far more economical to buy and enables more colour options to be provided.

There are thousands of uses for coloured labels; some customers use colours to control fifo stock systems, and they can also be used for stock taking. Schools use coloured labels on sports days to denote which house each child belongs to. More oddly coloured labels are used for “traffic light parties” where partygoers choose red, green or yellow stickers to denote how available they are!!!

Well, that’s about it for coloured labels today.

Clear Laser Labels

Monday, June 20th, 2011

Clear laser labels are supplied online by label planet. The most common sizes are sold in 25 sheet packs and there are also less common sizes in boxes of 500 sheets. There are three different kinds of clear laser labels; matt, gloss and gloss removable. Label Planet will start selling the matt and removable clear labels later this month, with the gloss clear labels available in stock for purchase.

All the clear laser labels are waterproof, and the laser print is also waterproof, unlike inkjet print which will smudge and smear.

For the best results you should set your print driver to the “labels” setting; this slows your printer down and makes sure that the laser toner is properly bonded to the labels. To set the driver to the labels setting, select “properties” or “settings” on the screen that appears just before you print, and then find “media type” and select “labels” or “heavy paper”.

Well that’s just about it for clear laser labels today.

Clear Inkjet Labels

Friday, June 17th, 2011

Clear labels are supplied by us for inkjet printers. The clear labels we supply are made out of polyester – this makes them waterproof. There is adhesive on the back of the labels which is waterproof, but any adhesive traps some air bubbles so if you stick the labels onto glass then they appear slightly frosted. Inkjet ink is water based so, even though the labels are waterproof the ink will not be, which means the main uses for these labels are indoor and not on retail products.

Printing clear inkjet labels is simple, you can use MS Word to design what you want to print; if you use a template designing the labels will be easier as the template helps you to position the text or images you want. Templates for all sizes of label are on our web site at www.labelplanet.co.uk.

Well that’s the main stuff about clear inkjet labels.

CD Labels and DVD Labels

Thursday, June 9th, 2011

Blank self-adhesive CD labels are supplied by Label Planet; there are 4 different layouts to choose from, depending upon which software you are using. The labels are sold in packs of 25 sheets and sent out same day.

CD labels were sold in huge volume when CD burners became available to the general public because, for the first time, people could copy existing CDs and also create their own compilations. At that time CDs were the main method of distributing programs and music files.

As the speed of computers and the amount of storage available increased, more and more music files were downloaded. At first this was an illegal activity but it is now legitimate via programes like iTunes. As a result the number of CD and DVD labels sold to the general public has fallen off substantially. Software and computer companies still use CD labels on CDs as a cheap and effective way of distributing back up copies of software.

The CD will probably go the same way now as the old vinyl records.

Audio Cassette Labels

Wednesday, June 8th, 2011

We supply audio cassette labels on A4 sheets for printing on laser and inkjet printers. Not many companies supply these labels now and we have tended to pick up business as others stop supplying. The number of sheets we sell has reduced as tape technology becomes rarer and rarer.

In their hayday audio cassette labels were one of the most popular labels, but now tend to be used by a few specialist groups of customers. Some religious missions use them in Africa but the main remaining use for these labels is on tapes for blind people.

Not a lot more to say today about audio cassette labels.
