Royal Mail – New Service “24”

Tuesday, July 30th, 2013

Customers may have noticed that their orders have been arriving with a new Royal Mail service mark on the envelope or parcel and we just wanted to explain why this is.

Royal Mail have introduced two new services, known as “Royal Mail 24” and “Royal Mail 48”, for use by distributors, retailers, and online retailers who are despatching goods to their customers.

We are using the “Royal Mail 24” service in place of the “Royal Mail First Class” service to customers with UK postcodes. According to the Royal Mail website this service means that the Royal Mail will “aim to deliver your parcels the next working day”.

We hope this new service will continue to provide swift and reliable delivery for all Label Planet’s customers.

Labels For The New Royal Mail PPI Stamps

Thursday, July 25th, 2013

We have a number of customers who use labels to print out Royal Mail PPIs for their post – in fact we do the same.

Recently the Royal Mail have introduced a number of changes to the design of their PPIs; all of the designs now include a “Delivered by Royal Mail” mark, and PPIs have been introduced for the new “Royal Mail 24” and “Royal Mail 48” delivery categories. This means that the sizes of the designs have been adjusted accordingly and we’ve had a number of queries from customers asking for labels that match the dimensions from the site.

The sizes provided on the Royal Mail website indicate the size of the images – not the size of label that is required. All you need to do is work out how much space you have on your envelope, packet, or package and find a label that is bigger than the PPI image but still fits neatly on the item.

For example, for the four sizes of PPI images available for First Class, you could use the following labels:
14mm x 54mm – you could use LP27/63 (29.6mm x 63.5mm)
22mm x 80mm – you could use LP16/99 (34mm x 99.1mm)
26mm x 93mm – you could use LP16/99 (34mm x 99.1mm)
30mm x 58mm – you could use LP18/63 (46.6mm x 63.5mm)

The Royal Mail website has further information about how to use PPIs, and the guidelines that need to be met.

Reviews For Labelplanet.co.uk

Tuesday, July 23rd, 2013

We’ve updated our website and added a new link to our “Leave a Product Review” page.

We hope this makes it even easier for our customers to leave a review of the product (or products!) they have purchased. The link can be found just below the white search bar at the top of our website.

We are also introducing a follow up email for our customers. Three weeks after your order has been processed, we will send you an email with a link to our review system, so you can let us know how it went.

So, if there’s something we’re doing very right or something we need to improve, you can let us know. If you prefer you can send us a message, like us on Facebook, or follow us on Twitter.

Samples: Try Before You Buy

Thursday, July 18th, 2013

Here at Label Planet we offer a free samples service, so that customers can try out our labels before they buy.

Many of our customers have a very specific purpose for their labels, or they want to be able to practice getting their design and printing technique just right. We offer samples so that our customers can find exactly the right label for them – without having to spend money to get hold of some examples they can test.

We’ve just produced a printing guide, which will be sent out with all of our samples. This guide has tips and advice on designing and printing labels, to make sure our customers get the most out of their samples.

For example, we advise you to:
– TEST YOUR TEMPLATE on plain blank white paper before printing onto your sample label sheets.
– CHECK YOUR PRINTER SETTINGS to make sure you are using the “labels” or “heavy paper” setting to get the best print results.
– USE THE MEDIA BYPASS TRAY to help achieve better print alignment.
– REPLICATE THE SITUATION that you will be using the labels in as closely as possible to make sure your sample is the best option for your particular application.

To request a sample, simply fill out our online Sample Request Form or give us a call on 01270 668076 for advice on which labels are the best option for you.

Labels That Are Perfect For Summer

Tuesday, July 16th, 2013

With a heatwave upon us (and who knew we’d be getting to say that this year?!) we’re getting more and more requests about labels that are suitable for summer. So here’s a bit of a guide to the labels that we’re recommending.

FREEZER LABELS
So this might be a bit of an obvious one, but we’ve had quite the demand for freezer labels in the past few weeks. So much so, we’re having to keep a very close eye on our stock levels!
These labels are paper labels with a special adhesive designed to withstand the process of being stored in a freezer. We recommend using them with laser printers – you can print them using an inkjet printer, but there may be problems with the print smudging when an item is removed from a freezer and condensation forms.
Suitable for: food and drink! These labels are great for labelling all kinds of delicious deserts and cooling drinks that we just can’t get enough of in the summer months.

COLOURED AND FLUORESCENT LABELS
Summer brings out the brightest of colours; in fashion, in marketing, in shops, and in schools. It’s easy to join in with the fun of summer by brightening up your labels with a cool pastel colour or, for the more daring, a bright fluorescent colour.
These paper labels are available in a choice of six pastel colours and five fluorescent colours. All are suitable for laser printers and the pastel coloured labels can also be printed using inkjet printers.
Suitable for: adding colour! Whether you’re adding information to products, marketing materials, diaries and organisational charts, or just sprucing up your filing system, these labels are a great way to add a burst of colour in the summer months.

WATERPROOF LABELS
The warm weather means we get to spend time outdoors, which means you may need labels that can survive in outdoor conditions. Our range of waterproof laser labels are perfect for the great outdoors – whether you need labels in your garden, on sports and watersports equipment, or on the myriad of items that become essentials on family days out.
These labels are made of either a polyester or a polyethylene material, which makes them much more durable and waterproof. They also come with a waterproof adhesive and two of our ranges – matt white polyester and matt white polyethylene – come with a waterproof adhesive that meets the BS5609 standard. Among other things, this means these labels have survived being stored in seawater for three months!
Suitable for: labelling anything that needs to survive outside. If you’ve got an outdoor display, equipment that is used outside, or anything that needs to survive getting wet, these labels are the ideal choice.
Options:
Gloss White Polyester
Matt White Polyester
Gloss Transparent Polyester
Matt Transparent Polyester
Matt White Polyethylene

If you’ve got any summer favourites, let us know. We love hearing about the unusual uses our customers have for our labels, from labelling plastic ducks in charity fetes to labelling participants in marathons and triathlons, so why not try and surprise us with yours?!

Feedback: We Want To Hear From You

Thursday, July 11th, 2013

We’re always looking for ways to improve and we think the best way to find out what we could be doing better is to ask our customers for feedback.

Feedback is very important to us, and we like to make a note of all of the comments we get – positive or negative. If you think there’s something we do that is particularly helpful, let us know and we can make sure we keep on doing it! Or, if any part of our service has let you down, let us know and we’ll do our best to make sure it doesn’t happen again – to you or to any of our customers. Plus if there’s something you think is missing from our service, we’re always happy to listen to and implement suggestions wherever we can.

Customers can leave feedback and comments using our new multiple choice review system. This easy to follow system lets you leave your thoughts about our products, customer service, and delivery process, and it only takes thirty seconds to submit a review.

To leave a review, simply visit our review page, select the type of label that you bought from us, and get commenting!

Remember, you can also let us know how we’re doing on Facebook and Twitter; whether you leave us a message or simply give us a like or a follow.

We’re also creating a “Labels Gallery” to display all of the wonderful and creative ways our labels get used. Simply send a photograph of your printed labels to info@labelplanet.co.uk and we’ll feature you in our gallery.

Protecting Your Labels In Summer

Tuesday, July 9th, 2013

Yes, even labels can be affected by the summer sun!

We advise our customers to keep their labels in the original wrapping and to store them in a cool, dry place to help prevent any damage that might make them unusable in the future.

Heat can damage labels in two key ways:

1. Exposing labels to heat can cause the adhesive to harden, which may make them more difficult to remove from the sheet and to apply to a surface. It may also affect the long term use of the label.

2. Laser labels contain moisture, which helps the toner to bond to the sheets properly. When the sheets are exposed to heat, this moisture dries up and when the labels are printed the print quality will be reduced and may also rub off quite easily.

You can find more Tips & Advice on our website.

Fluorescent Round Labels – The Brightest Circles Around!

Thursday, July 4th, 2013

Our circular labels in fluorescent colours are the perfect way to add a burst of colour to whatever you need to label. Whether you want to make something stand out, make people take notice, or just need a decorative label that adds a bright finishing touch, these circles are the brightest around.

We have twelve different sizes to choose from, and all of these sizes are available in four different fluorescent colours; Red, Orange, Green, and Lemon. Six of these sizes are also available in a daring Magenta shade that is sure to dazzle.

These bright circles are a great way to add important information on a label that draws the eye to wherever you need it to be. They are great for displaying product information, sale prices and promotions, important directions or instructions, or brand and contact information. They can even be left blank and used as fun seals on products and bags.

They’re also great for schools and parents who use stickers to reward good behaviour and achievements. These labels can be used as blank stickers to indicate how well a child is doing or how close they are to earning a reward, or they can be printed with positive messages such as “Well Done”.

You can view the options available, find out more, or buy your fluorescent labels on our new Round Fluorescent Labels range page.
[Of course, if you’d prefer a slightly demurer shade, you can always opt for one of our pastel colour options, available here.]

End Of The School Year – Reward Stickers

Tuesday, July 2nd, 2013

Many schools offer prizes and rewards at the end of the school year to pupils who have made significant achievements during that particular year. As part of this, schools often give out certificates and rewards. Here at Label Planet we have a number of labels that can be used to decorate or label these rewards with the pupil’s name and/or the details of their achievement.

For example, schools can use our Gold or Silver labels to decorate certificates with an “official” stamp or mark of excellence. They can also denote levels of achievement through awarding either a gold or silver certificate. For a fun, bright alternative, schools can use our Coloured or Fluorescent labels to brighten up certificates for their pupils, or even create stickers with positive and rewarding messages for all of their pupils to congratulate them on all of their achievements over the past year.
