Find Your Perfect Match* With The Label Planet Label Finder

Wednesday, March 14th, 2018

* Okay, we can’t find you your perfect match but we CAN help you find the perfect self adhesive labels for your label application.

Choosing the right self adhesive labels can turn out to be a bit more complicated than you’d like – especially if your label application involves some particularly tricky requirements.

If you’ve never wandered through the world of self adhesive labels before, it can be a bit bewildering when you realise exactly how many different choices you have to make. However, you DON’T need to be an expert in sticky labels to pick the perfect label! We’ve put together all of our experience of working in the labelling industry (and helping customers to find the self adhesive labels that are “just right”) and used it to create our LABEL FINDER.

The Label Planet Label Finder is designed to make the process of picking the perfect label as easy as possible so anyone can find the right sticky labels for their project in a few short clicks.

Using The Label Finder To Find Your Perfect Self Adhesive Labels

Instead of having to pick out the perfect label from ALL of the self adhesive labels available from Label Planet, the Label Finder creates a short list of options based on the sticky labels that are actually suitable for your application.

All you have to do is select a few key requirements for your self adhesive labels and the Label Finder will return a list of the sticky labels that match those requirements. For example, if you need removable labels you can enter this as a requirement and the Label Finder will ONLY show you self adhesive labels with a removable adhesive. If you need waterproof labels you can set this as a requirement and the Label Finder will show you all of our sticky labels that are also waterproof.

What Information Can I Use To Find The Perfect Self Adhesive Labels For My Project?

The Label Finder allows you to narrow down your choices using the following requirements:

  • LABEL USE: we’ve created sets of “recommended labels” for a variety of applications, so you can use this option to give you an idea of what sort of self adhesive labels you should be looking at for a specific kind of application.
  • PRINTER TYPE: use this option if you’ve only got a laser printer OR an inkjet printer. Some of our products can only be printed with one type of printer and are grouped as laser labels (print with a laser printer) or inkjet labels (print with an inkjet printer).
  • LABEL SHAPE: use this option if you know you definitely want rectangular labels, round labels, square labels, oval labels, or CD labels / DVD labels.
  • COLOUR: use this option to show a list of the label sizes available in a particular colour.
  • NUMBER PER SHEET: use this option if you’re looking for a particular label size but you can only remember how many sticky labels were on each sheet.
  • AVERY TEMPLATE CODE: use this option to see if we supply any self adhesive labels that are compatible with (use the same label size and layout as) Avery labels / label templates that you currently use.
  • MATERIAL: use this option to narrow down your choice to paper labels OR one of our synthetic waterproof materials.
  • ADHESIVE: use this option to narrow down your choices based on whether you need permanent labels, removable labels, or a label adhesive suitable for a particular application / environment (e.g. high tack labels, opaque labels, void labels, wash off labels, marine labels, or freezer labels).
  • FINISH: use this option to show a list of sticky labels with the type of finish that you prefer (choose from gloss labels, semi-gloss labels, and matt labels).
  • WATERPROOF: use this option to create a list that only contains waterproof labels.
  • LABEL WIDTH: use this option if your self adhesive labels MUST have a specific label width.
  • LABEL HEIGHT: use this option if your self adhesive labels MUST have a specific label height.
  • LABEL CODE: use this option to view a particular product that you’ve ordered from Label Planet before.
  • LABEL PLANET SIZE CODE: use this option to view all of the material options available for a particular label size.
  • LABEL PLANET MATERIAL CODE: use this option to view all of the label sizes available for a particular label material.

FAQ – What Are Label Planet’s Popular Label Sizes?

A Guide To Label Planet’s “Popular” Label Sizes For Self Adhesive Labels

If you’ve taken a look through the home page of our website, you may have noticed an option called “Popular Sizes” and wondered what makes a particular label size “popular”. We’ve written this blog post to explain what our popular label sizes are and why they can be extremely useful…

What Is A “Popular” Label Size?

As you might imagine, our range of popular label sizes is made up of the sizes that are requested most often; they’re also the most popular sizes requested across the whole of the labelling industry.

What Are The Benefits Of Choosing “Popular” Self Adhesive Label Sizes?

There are a number of benefits to choosing a popular label size – most of which are the result of the fact that “popular” sizes tend to become “standard” sizes.

The labelling industry wants to manufacture label sizes that customers actually want to buy, which has led to certain sizes becoming a set of “standard” label sizes that are manufactured in extremely large volumes on a regular basis. This has a number of benefits for customers:

  1. Popular Label Sizes Are Readily Available

Manufacturers make self adhesive labels in these sizes ALL THE TIME, which means that they are often in stock and available for same day despatch. Bespoke label sizes are made to order, which means they have longer lead times during which the self adhesive labels will actually be made for a specific customer.

  1. Popular Label Sizes Are Available In Smaller Quantities

Smaller packs of self adhesive labels tend to be available when there is a ready supply of stock that can be broken down into smaller quantities. Bespoke label sizes are only produced in specific and requested quantities.

  1. Popular Label Sizes Are Cheaper

These sizes are produced in bulk, which makes them less expensive to produce compared to bespoke label sizes (that have additional manufacturing set up costs) – making them much cheaper to buy.

  1. Popular Label Sizes Are Better Supported

These label sizes are much more likely to be supplied with label templates and printing advice. It is also more likely that a compatible label template will be available in the software a customer wants to use to design and print their own self adhesive labels (such as the Avery Label Templates built in to Word).

  1. Popular Label Sizes Are Available In More Material & Adhesive Options

Popular sizes are used to create ranges of self adhesive labels in alternative label materials and label adhesives. While standard paper labels are available in a wider range of label sizes, if you want a different material or adhesive (used to make waterproof labels, transparent labels, coloured labels, removable labels, security labels, freezer labels, gloss labels, opaque labels, or high tack permanent labels) you will probably find that they are available in a limited range of label sizes (made up of “popular” / standard sizes).

What Label Sizes Are Included In Your “Popular” Group Of Self Adhesive Labels?

Our range of popular label sizes includes nine rectangular labels and four round labels as follows:

  • LP1/210: A4 labels measuring 210mm by 297mm
  • LP4/99: 4 sticky labels measuring 99.1mm by 139mm
  • LP8/99: 8 sticky labels measuring 99.1mm by 67.7mm
  • LP12/63: 12 sticky labels measuring 63.5mm by 72mm
  • LP14/99: 14 address labels measuring 99.1mm by 38.1mm
  • LP21/63: 21 address labels measuring 63.5mm by 38.1mm
  • LP40/45: 40 sticky labels measuring 45.7mm by 38.1mm
  • LP65/38: 65 mini labels measuring 38.1mm by 21.2mm
  • LP84/46: 84 mini labels measuring 46mm by 11.1mm
  • LP12/64R: 12 round labels with a 63.5mm diameter
  • LP15/51R: 15 round labels with a 51mm diameter
  • LP35/37R: 35 round labels with a 37mm diameter
  • LP70/25R: 70 round labels with a 25mm diameter

All of these label sizes are available in all 30 of our self adhesive label ranges – and most are also available for same day despatch from stock in packs of 25 sheets.

The Label Planet Guide To Opaque Labels

Wednesday, February 7th, 2018

How Do Opaque Labels Work?

The term “opaque” refers to a property of materials that do not transmit light – in other words, they don’t allow light to pass through them and so the human eye cannot see through these materials. This means that anything beyond these materials is “blocked” from view – which is why opaque labels are also known as blockout labels.

Opaque labels are made from at least one material that is opaque; this could be the face material, adhesive, or additional coatings that have been applied deliberately to create self adhesive labels with the particular property of being opaque.

At Label Planet, our opaque paper labels are made with a matt white paper that has a black opaque coating on the reverse side and a black permanent adhesive that is also opaque.

What Are Opaque Labels Used For?

Opaque labels are used to cover up existing print that – for one reason or another – you don’t want anyone to see when they look at an item. They can be used to:

  1. COVER UP MISTAKES: whether you’ve accidentally printed the wrong date on event flyers, the wrong contact information on company brochures, or even the wrong product information on your packaging, it’s generally quicker (and cheaper) to stick an opaque label (printed with the correct information) over the mistake than to have your items reprinted.
  2. UPDATE INFORMATION: replacing out of date information using an opaque label means that you don’t have to throw away printed materials that are otherwise completely fine. If, for example, you’ve changed address, phone number, or email you can simply print a set of opaque labels with your new contact information and stick these onto pre-printed materials such as packaging and envelopes or brochures and leaflets.
  3. RECYCLE PACKAGING: opaque labels are a really easy way to replace existing sticky labels (e.g. address labels, shipping labels, tracking labels etc) that would be difficult to remove without damaging the labelled item in the process. They can be used to recycle packaging for a variety of purposes including shipping or storing items in their original packaging – with a new set of sticky labels printed by you applied over the top of those printed by the original supplier.
  4. CREATE A SOLID BACKGROUND FOR NEW PRINT: if you need to add extra information or an additional bit of design work to pre-printed materials, opaque labels create a solid blank background for your extra print so it won’t be spoiled by the existing print showing through the additional layer.

Try Self-Adhesive Labels From Label Planet – They’re Out Of This World!

Wednesday, January 24th, 2018

Here at Label Planet, we made a deliberate decision to specialise in A4 sheets of self-adhesive labels designed specifically for use with standard desktop printers. Choosing to focus on just one specific kind of sticky labels means that we can pass on all sorts of astronomically awesome benefits to all of our customers.

Self-Adhesive Labels

These sticky labels are named after their adhesives; “self adhesive” or pressure sensitive adhesives are tacky (sticky) at room temperature and only require the light pressure of a hand or finger to be applied.

Self adhesive labels are really useful because they can be made in so many different variations – to suit different applications, conditions, and environments. For example, you can get gloss labels, matt labels, semi-gloss labels, coloured labels, fluorescent labels, Kraft labels, gold labels, silver labels, white labels, transparent labels, paper labels, plastic labels, waterproof labels, permanent labels, removable labels, freezer labels, wash off labels, opaque labels, security labels, and so on (and so forth!).

Laser Labels And Inkjet Labels

We sell directly to customers who want to print their own printer labels using the standard desktop printer they have available to them at home or at work. By choosing to supply A4 labels that are designed specifically for desktop machines, we are able to offer our customers a range of label sizes and material options that are specifically designed to allow them to create high quality sticky labels quickly and easily using the software and hardware available to them.

Our laser labels are made using materials and adhesives that are well-suited to the laser printing process – which uses heat and pressure to bond toner into place. This means that we use materials that are able to withstand (short term) exposure to high temperatures, such as paper labels with high moisture content.

Likewise, our inkjet labels are made using slightly porous materials that allow printing inks to dry quickly and effectively in the correct position to allow customers to produce high resolution designs using their own desktop inkjet printer.

Perfect Label Sizes And Layouts (And Label Templates To Match!)

All of our label sizes are made with layouts that are designed to make designing and printing your own A4 labels as simple and trouble-free as possible. We’ve also created Word templates and PDF templates for all of our label sizes, which can be downloaded completely free of charge from our Label Template Pages.

If you need any advice or guidance on how to print your own blank labels, you can take a look through the Guides in our Help Section or get in touch with our Customer Service Team for one-to-one advice.

An Astronomical Range Of Choices (With Warp Speed Despatch & Delivery!)

As we specialise in blank A4 labels, we are able to offer a wide range of self adhesive labels – with over 100 label sizes available across a range of more than 30 material and adhesive options – so you can find the label size, material, adhesive, and finish that is just right for your label application.

We aim to stock as many of the most popular combinations as possible, so your sticky labels are available for same day despatch in stock – with options available for guaranteed next day delivery.

High Quality Blank Labels At Great Value Prices

All of our self adhesive labels are manufactured independently in the UK using high quality materials and manufacturing processes. Plus, as a specialty supplier of A4 labels, we are able to offer our customers great value prices, as well as price breaks for trade customers who need to order in bulk.

You can find out more about SELF-ADHESIVE LABELS on our website; to place an order, simply visit www.labelplanet.co.uk or get in touch with our Customer Service Team.

Put Our Self Adhesive Labels To The Test With Our Label Sample Request Service

Wednesday, January 10th, 2018

At Label Planet, we believe in doing everything we can to help our customers choose the perfect self adhesive labels for their projects. From address labels to product labels (and everything inbetween), we offer the widest possible range of options to ensure that you can find the sticky labels you need in the Label Planet range.

We know, however, that it can be difficult to choose just one label size / shape / material / adhesive from all of the options on offer – especially if you’ve never printed your own A4 labels before now.

This is why we offer a completely free LABEL SAMPLE service whereby you can request a few label sizes, shapes, materials, and adhesives to help you to find “the one” that’s perfect for your project.

To request a free sample of any of our blank labels, give us a call or fill in our online request form.

If you aren’t sure which sticky labels to choose, simply let us know as much information about your label application as possible (i.e. what you need self adhesive labels for and what you’d like them to look like) and we’ll put together a selection of the blank labels that best fit your requirements.

For example, let us know if you need laser labels (for a laser printer) or inkjet labels (for an inkjet printer), if you have any preference for coloured labels / kraft labels / fluorescent labels / white labels / gloss labels / transparent labels, if you need waterproof labels / security labels / freezer labels / bottle labels and jar labels, or if you have any preferences for a particular label size.

This helps us to make sure that the sample labels we send are suitable for your particular label application.

You can then use your sample to choose the right colour or finish, the right type and strength of label adhesive, and the right label size for your application. You can also use your sample to replicate your label application as closely as possible – to make sure that the self adhesive labels you choose will actually work under the conditions of your label application – and to give yourself a test run at printing a label template accurately.

We try to fulfil sample requests same or next working day; samples are posted out via Royal Mail’s first class service as standard.

Visit our website to view all of the label sizes and materials available and then head over to our sample request page (or give us a call) to request a label sample today!

What’s In A (Product) Name? Quite A Lot Really!

Wednesday, November 22nd, 2017

Our product codes are designed to be as simple and useful as possible, which means that (if you look closely enough) you can find out all sorts of information about our self-adhesive labels just by looking their product codes.

While a lot of label products have (random) alphanumerical codes that are easily confused and hold no meaningful reference to their products, we wanted our product codes to be as useful as the sticky labels themselves.

This is why we’ve created a system for labelling our printer labels, to incorporate the main features of each product (e.g. label size and shape, labels per sheet, label adhesive and material, colours and finishes etc) into the product code – so you know exactly what you’re getting from the start!

All of our blank label products (except for our CD & DVD labels and franking labels) have a code based on the following formula:

LP + No. of Labels Per Sheet + / + Label Width + Label Shape* + Label Adhesive/Material*

1. LP

We start with “LP” to make it absolutely clear that a code belongs to self adhesive labels from Label Planet. Some companies use the SAME product codes as other companies, which can make it impossible to know where you bought a particular set of blank labels.

2. Self Adhesive Labels Per Sheet

Next we list the number of adhesive labels per sheet, followed by a forward slash.

3. Width

Then we list the width of the label size (rounded to the nearest round number); for round labels this is the diameter of the circular labels and for  oval labels this is the widest part of each oval label.

This is where the product codes for (most of) our rectangular standard matt white permanent labels end – for example:

  • LP65/38: 65 rectangular labels per sheet with a label width of 38.1mm
  • LP4/99: 4 labels per sheet with a label width of 99.1mm
  • LP21/70: 21 labels per sheet with a label width of 70mm

The rest of our sticky labels have additional elements to indicate their shape, adhesive, material, finish, and colour.

4. Blank Label Shape

First, we add a label shape; square cut rectangular labels with a selvedge (blank strips at the top and bottom of each sheet) will have “S”, round labels have “R”, oval labels have “OV”, and square labels have “SQ” – for example:

  • LP24/70S: 24 rectangular labels per sheet with a label width of 70mm and a selvedge of 8.7mm at the top and bottom of each sheet
  • LP4/100R: 4 round labels per sheet with a diameter of 100mm
  • LP8/90OV: 8 oval labels per sheet measuring 90mm at their widest point
  • LP35/37SQ: 35 square labels per sheet with a label width of 37mm

The only exceptions are our CD labels & DVD labels, which begin with “LPCD” followed by the diameter of the round labels (e.g. LPCD117).

5. Material / Adhesive

Next we add the label adhesive and/or material; each product range has its own “range code”, which is taken from the initials of the material(s) used to make that particular product – for example:

  • DF: Paper Labels with a Deep Freeze Adhesive
  • WW: Paper Labels with a Water Wash-Off Adhesive
  • GREM: Paper Labels with a Glass REMovable Adhesive
  • GWPQ: Gloss White Photo Quality Paper Labels with a Standard Permanent Adhesive
  • MPQ: Matt Premium Quality Paper Labels with a Standard Permanent Adhesive
  • OPQ: Paper Labels with an OPaQue Adhesive
  • MWPO: Matt White PolyOlefin Labels with a Marine Adhesive
  • SVP: Silver Void Polyester Labels with a Void Adhesive
  • CRD: Crimson ReD Labels with a Standard Permanent Adhesive
  • REMCRD: Crimson ReD Labels with a Standard REMovable Adhesive
  • LG: Laser Gold Paper Labels with a Standard Permanent Adhesive
  • BRK: Brown Ribbed Kraft Labels with a Standard Permanent Adhesive

For a full list of the range codes that we use for all of our self-adhesive labels, simply visit our List Of A4 Label Materials page.

So, whether you want laser labels or inkjet labels, white labels or coloured labels, transparent labels or waterproof labels, permanent labels or removable labels, you can always take a quick look at the product code to make sure that you’ve got the sticky labels you need!

Make Your Items Safe & Secure With Our Tamper Evident Security Labels

Wednesday, October 18th, 2017

Labels can be a quick and easy way to add a little bit of extra security to a variety of items, from high value goods to important documentation. A label can be used not only to securely seal packaging, folders, and envelopes but to also increase the security of items by acting as a visual deterrent against unauthorised tampering AND by providing visual evidence that an item has been opened or otherwise damaged in some way.

There are a range of security labels available, including a group known as “Tamper Evident Labels”; these labels provide some form of visual evidence that someone has attempted to tamper with an item.

At Label Planet, we supply two kinds of Tamper Evident Labels: TAMPER EVIDENT VINYL LABELS (TEV) and SILVER VOID LABELS (SVP).

Tamper Evident Vinyl Labels

Our TEV labels are “frangible labels” designed to provide evidence of tampering by disintegrating into tiny pieces when any attempt is made to remove one of these labels. They are made with a strong permanent adhesive and a very thin, very fragile (hence “frangible”) vinyl face material, which means that the label disintegrates when you try to remove it – the result being that only a tiny fragment of the label is removed with the rest of the label remaining behind, as an indication that the label (and therefore the item) has been tampered with in some way.

Please note: it IS possible to (eventually) remove the entire label but it is extremely difficult and time consuming to make sure that every part of the label has been removed.

Our TEV labels are available in 11 stocked label sizes (available in 25 sheet packs for same day despatch from stock) and a further 33 made to order label sizes (available in 500 sheet boxes with up to five working days for despatch).

These labels can be (carefully) handwritten or printed using a laser printer – although, due to the fragile nature of the vinyl, you do need to take care when handling these labels to avoid damaging the material. These labels should be printed using a standard print setting (rather than a specific “Labels” or “Heavy Paper” setting) and we strongly recommend requesting a sample of these labels to make sure they are suitable for your requirements.

While they can be used on a range of surface types, they are best suited to solid inflexible surfaces where there is a fixed and consistent surface for them to bond with successfully (compared to flexible surfaces such as plastic bags or wrapping).

Silver Void Labels

Our SVP labels are “void labels” designed to provide evidence of tampering by leaving behind a message (the word “VOID”) when they are removed from an item. Our void labels are made with a silver matt metallic polyester face material and a “partial transfer” VOID adhesive; this is a permanent adhesive that is designed to split when a label is removed from an item – leaving part of the adhesive on the back of the label and part on the previously labelled item.

This makes these labels extremely popular for use as security seals (on product packaging and important document folders or envelopes), warranty labels on high value goods (to indicate that an item has been tampered with in a way prohibited by the terms of a warranty agreement), and as security labels on high value goods (to prevent items being resold illegally under a different name or brand).

Our SVP labels are available in 9 stocked label sizes (available in 25 sheet packs for same day despatch from stock) and a further 35 made to order label sizes (available in 500 sheet boxes with up to five working days for despatch).

These labels can be handwritten or printed using a laser printer; as the silver polyester has a metallised backing, we recommend using a standard print setting and NOT a specific “Labels” or “Heavy Paper” setting (this is because the metallised backing causes the labels to reflect the heat generated by laser printers, which can generate too much heat if the more specialised print settings are used).

You can find out more about our security labels, view all of the label sizes available, and place an order for your own tamper evident labels by visiting our dedicated range pages; go to the TEV range page for tamper evident vinyl labels or go to the SVP range page for void labels.

Find The Perfect Label For You With The Label Planet Label Finder

Wednesday, October 4th, 2017

With so many different product options available, it can be quite confusing to sort out which labels are suitable for your particular label application (and which are definitely NOT the labels for you). While we are more than happy to chat to customers to discuss their requirements, we know that sometimes it’s more convenient to use an online guide (especially if you need to place an order outside of office hours).

This is where the Label Planet LABEL FINDER comes into play!

We’ve added ALL of our label products to our Label Finder (along with their defining features) so that you can simply select the things you want your labels to be and the Finder will present you with a shortlist of the Label Planet products that meet your requirements.

For example, you can search for a particular label shape, size, colour, finish, material, and/or adhesive OR you can narrow your search to labels that are (or aren’t) waterproof, that are compatible with a particular Avery code, or that are compatible with your type of printer.

You can also use the Label Finder to find out if a particular label size is available with alternative material choices (including different materials, adhesives, colours, and finishes), or to take a look at the label options that we think are particularly well-suited for a particular label application.

Whether you only have a vague idea of what you want your labels to be (for example, you KNOW you want yellow labels, or waterproof labels, or labels that are about 10cm wide – but nothing else) OR you have a lot of specific requirements (for example, you need labels that are gloss labels AND transparent labels AND waterproof labels AND they measure 38.1mm in height) the Label Finder is a quick and easy way to get a better idea of 1) whether or not we actually supply labels that meet your requirements and 2) how many different options there are for you to choose from that will actually do the job you need them to do.

Of course, you can always get in touch with us if you need further advice or assistance with picking the perfect label for your label application. Our customer service team is on hand by phone or by email (our office hours are 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday) AND you can also take advantage of our free sample service to try out a few different options to help make sure you pick the right product for you.

Label Planet’s Answers To Your Most Frequently Asked Questions

Wednesday, September 27th, 2017

We get a variety of enquiries and queries from our customers – some more surprising and unusual than others – and our customer service team is on hand to help out with any questions (big or small) that you might need answering.

You can contact us during office hours (Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm) via phone or email and you can submit questions to us via our website or by email at any time and we’ll do our best to get back to you with an answer as soon as we can.

Of course, there are some questions that crop up more often than others, so here’s a quickfire list of the answers to your most frequently asked questions:

Questions About: Designing & Printing Labels

  1. Do you print labels for customers?
No; we supply blank labels for customers to print themselves (or to have printed by a local printers).
  1. How do I print labels?
You create your label design in a template, which is a file that shows the layout of the labels on an A4 sheet. We supply Word templates and PDF templates for all of our label sizes (found in our Template Section here), although you can also create your own label template or use a compatible built in Avery template (where available). Add your design to the top left label and then use copy and paste to fill in the rest. Test print your template onto blank paper to confirm if the alignment is correct (and make amendments if it is not). Load your labels into the media bypass tray (if your printer has one) and check your printer’s properties to ensure the page size is set to A4 and to select the “Labels” or “Heavy Paper” print setting.
  1. How do I get the labels to line up properly?
If your print is too high/low/left/right (by the same amount), increase or decrease the top and left page margins to correct the misalignment. If the alignment gets progressively worse as you go down or across the page, check that your printer is set to an A4 page size and that no scaling options (e.g. Fit To Page) are selected. You should also check that your template is still the correct size in case it has altered as you have added your content.
  1. Will my printer / photocopier print labels?
Check your printer’s manual to see if it can process labels and if there are any settings and features you can use to improve the print quality and accuracy. You must also make sure you print laser labels with a laser printer and inkjet labels with an inkjet printer – the printer compatibility of all our label materials is listed on our range pages, product pages, and product packaging.
While we don’t recommend specific models, we do recommend OKI & HP printers (which handle different materials and high volumes very well), dedicated printers rather than “All-In-One” printers (the latter do several tasks to an okay standard, which means they often struggle to print labels effectively – if at all), and choosing a printer with a duty cycle that exceeds your actual usage (i.e. that can print more sheets to a consistent quality within a month than you actually need).
  1. Why can’t I see the outlines of the labels in my template?
To view the outlines of a Word template you must have Table Gridlines turned on; to turn them on left click once in the centre of your template, select the Table Tools “Layout” tab at the top of the page, and click “View Gridlines”.
  1. Why can’t I edit my template?
If you have download a template from our website, it may have been temporarily locked for security reasons; there should be a (yellow) banner going across the top of the page with a button that says “Enable Editing” – click on this button to unlock your template and add your design(s).

Questions About: Delivery

  1. When will my labels arrive?
Small orders (25-200 sheets): same day despatch via Royal Mail’s first class service (up to 4:30pm, Mon-Fri)
Medium orders (250-475 sheets); same day despatch via next (working) day carrier service (up to 3pm, Mon-Fri)
Large orders/made to order items (500+ sheets); despatch via next (working) day carrier service (up to 3pm, Mon-Fri) where stock is available; made to order items are made and despatched within five working days (standard paper products despatch sooner).
Large orders to Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Islands With UK Postcodes, and some “Extended Postcode” regions are despatched on a 2-3 day carrier service (up to 3pm, Mon-Fri).
We offer a variety of special delivery options including Royal Mail special deliveries (1pm, 9am, Sat) and timed carrier deliveries (pre-10am, pre-10:30am, pre-noon).
  1. Do I have to pay extra for delivery?
Standard delivery to UK mainland postcodes is included in the prices on our website. Special delivery options, delivery to the Republic of Ireland, and delivery of large orders to Islands With UK Postcodes or “Extended Postcode” regions have additional shipping charges; you can find out more by contacting our Customer Service Team.

No; we only supply labels to the UK and Republic of Ireland. Our sister company (Madebuy) sells genuine Label Planet products via Amazon and eBay so you may wish to see if they are able to ship to your required destination.

Questions About: Choosing The Right Labels

  1. Do you supply samples?
We run a free sample request service so you can test a few options to make sure you choose the right label for your application. Simply fill in our online Sample Request form or get in touch with our Customer Service Team.
  1. What label materials do you supply?
We supply paper labels and “plastic” labels, which are made from polyester, polyethylene, polyolefin, or vinyl. You can find a full list of our label materials on our All Materials page.
  1. What label adhesives do you supply?
All of our labels are made with “self-adhesive” or “pressure sensitive” adhesives, which means they are all tacky (sticky) at “normal” temperatures and require only the pressure of a finger or hand to apply. We supply a range of adhesive strengths (from extremely strong “super tack” adhesives to extremely light “super removable” adhesives) and a number of “special” adhesives, which have been designed for specific applications (e.g. freezer adhesive, marine adhesive, opaque adhesive, and VOID adhesive). You can find a full list on our All Adhesives page.
  1. What colours do you supply?
We supply seven pastel colours (Crimson-Red, Orange-Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, Cream, or Pink), five fluorescent colours (Red, Orange, Lemon (Yellow), Green, or Magenta (Pink)), a metallic gold and silver, and a brown Kraft paper. You can find a full list on our All Colours page; we also supply a silver polyester label and a range of white labels.
  1. What is the difference between “matt” and “gloss”?
These terms describe the finish of our label materials; matt labels have a dull, non-shiny finish and gloss labels have a bright, shiny finish. We offer a range of gloss labels and matt labels, as well as semi-gloss paper labels, which offer a compromise between the two.
  1. What is the difference between “waterproof” and “splashproof”?
Our waterproof labels are made of synthetic materials that can be exposed to or immersed in water without sustaining damage. Our “splashproof” labels are paper labels with a gloss or semi-gloss coating that offers a limited degree of protection if they are lightly splashed with water (so they can be wiped clean and dry if they get slightly wet).
  1. Can I request a bespoke label size / label material combination?
We don’t offer a bespoke label service; however, we do offer over 100 label sizes across a range of over 30 material options so you may find that we have a suitable alternative. You can find a complete list of our label sizes on our Labels Sorted By Width and Labels Sorted By Height pages and a complete list of our materials on our List Of Label Materials page. You can also search using our Label Finder or you can give us a call for further advice.

Questions About: Label Types

  1. Do you supply labels on rolls?
No; we specialise in supplying blank labels on A4 sheets for use with laser and inkjet desktop printers.
  1. Do you sell Avery labels?
No; we do, however, sell a number of compatible label sizes that use the same layout as Avery products, which means you can use an existing Avery template to print onto labels that you have purchased from us. If one of our products is compatible with an Avery size, we will list the relevant Avery codes on the product page, range page, template page, and packaging for that item.
  1. Do you supply waterproof / weatherproof labels?
Yes! We have a range of waterproof labels suitable for indoor and outdoor use – you can find a full list of options on our Waterproof Labels page. Please note that these labels are for use with laser printers only; laser printers use a dry printing process that produces waterproof print, while inkjet printers tend to use water-based inks that will run or smudge if they get wet (or are simply handled a lot).
  1. Do you supply labels for use in a freezer?
Yes; our freezer labels are made with a special deep freeze adhesive and can be applied onto products at room temperature or onto frozen products before being stored in conditions ranging from -40°C to +60°C.
Please note that these are paper labels and so they may wrinkle or crease slightly if they are exposed to condensation. We recommend that you handwrite these labels or use a laser printer; inkjet inks tend to be water-based, which will cause them to run or smudge if they get wet or are handled a lot.
  1. Are your transparent labels COMPLETELY see through?
Our transparent labels are not “frosted” or “translucent” nor are they “glass clear”; the adhesive layer may trap tiny particles of dust and air during application and this prevents them from being completely transparent – especially on glass. If you need something that IS completely transparent, we recommend “Static Cling” labels, which use static (rather than an adhesive) to hold labels in place.
  1. Do you supply opaque / blockout labels?
Yes; our opaque labels are made with an opaque adhesive that blocks out any existing print beneath the label. These labels are made to order items, with a minimum order quantity of 500 sheets, and a lead time of up to five working days for despatch.
As an alternative, you could try layering standard paper labels, choosing a thicker material (e.g. polyester/polyethylene/Kraft paper), or using our metallic paper labels, which also have an opaque finish.
  1. Do you supply security labels / tamperproof labels?
Yes; our silver VOID labels leave behind the word “VOID” if a label is removed from an item, while our tamper evident vinyl labels fragment into tiny pieces if someone tries to remove them from a labelled item.
  1. Do you supply integrated labels?
No; integrated labels are sheets where one or more labels are a part of (integrated into) a standard sheet of paper and we do not supply these products.
  1. Do you supply labels on A5/A3/SRA3 (etc) sheets?
No; all of our labels are supplied on A4 sheets that can be printed using standard desktop printers.
  1. Do you supply coloured labels in a specific pantone reference?
No; our coloured labels are not made to a specific pantone reference and we do not offer a bespoke service for coloured labels. The colour indicators on our website are for illustration purposes only and are not intended to be an accurate representation; we recommend requesting a sample to see if they are suitable for your requirements.

Questions About: Payments and Refunds

  1. What do your prices include?
The prices on our website are “all inclusive” and include both VAT and standard UK delivery. The price you see on our website is the price that you will pay at the checkout UNLESS you add an upgraded delivery service to your order.
  1. How does your pricing structure work?
We use a price break system, which means that larger quantities of labels have a better cost per unit than smaller quantities. Please note that we do not have a separate trade price list, nor do we offer special discounts to trade customers; all of our customers are offered the same price list and the same discounts (when available).
If you need to order a “shopping list” of different items then we advise getting in touch with us first for a quote as we may be able to pro-rata the price of some or all of the items in your order.
  1. If I find a better price elsewhere will you match that price?
No, we do not offer any price matching services.
  1. What payment methods are available?
Ordering Online: pay by credit card/debit card or use a PayPal account.
Ordering By Phone: pay by credit card/debit card.
Ordering By Email/Fax/Post: request a Proforma Invoice and pay by credit/debit card, BACS transfer, or cheque.
Please note that we can send PayPal payment requests if you let us know that you’d prefer to make payment in this way.
  1. Do you accept purchase orders?
Yes! Email or fax a copy of your purchase order to us and we will issue you with a Proforma Invoice.
  1. Can I open a credit account?
No; we operate a “payment with order” system and do not offer credit accounts. If you are unable to place an order via our website or over the phone (for example, if you need to place orders via a Finance Department), you can send us a purchase order or order request by email/fax/post (or give us a call) and we will issue you with a Proforma Invoice against which you (or your Finance Department) can make payment.
  1. How do I place an order on behalf of a school?
You can order via our website or over the phone OR you can send the details of your order to us by email or fax (or post!) and we will process your order and send you a 30-Day School Invoice (Local Education Authority Schools only) for payment. Please note that you need to send your order to us either in the form of an official School Purchase Order OR in a document with the school’s letterhead that has been signed by the individual responsible for payment.
  1. How do I place an order for delivery to the Republic of Ireland?
You will need to place your order by phone so that we can determine the best shipping option for the specific items you wish to purchase. If you are VAT registered, we will also remove VAT from your order if you have your VAT number to hand when you call.
  1. How do I request a refund?
Get in touch with our customer service team to request a refund; let us know what item(s) you wish to return and we will issue you with a goods return number. Once we have received your returned goods we will process your refund.
Please note that we will only issue refunds for products that we can resell or that are faulty. If you have opened your label packs and used some of the sheets, we will only offer you a partial refund based on the labels that you return.
  1. What should I do if I’ve ordered the wrong thing?
Get in touch with us as soon as possible so that we can amend your order BEFORE it is processed. If your order has already been despatched or delivered, you have TWO options:
Request replacements: we will issue you with a goods return number and – once we have received the incorrect goods back – we will post out replacements to you.
Request a refund and place a new order: we will issue you with a goods return number and process a refund for you once we receive the incorrect goods back – while your new order will be processed according to our usual despatch and delivery terms, allowing you to receive the correct items as soon as possible.

We’ve also put together a section of Help Pages, including a full FAQs page, material specification sheets, a template section (with templates AND advice), tops tips, guides to designing and printing labels, a quickfire troubleshooting guide, and a whole host of other helpful resources that should answer the majority of questions that you might have. You can – of course – get in touch with us if you find that your question isn’t answered by any of these pages and we’ll be happy to help.

Label Planet’s Top Autumn Labels For Autumnal Applications

Wednesday, September 20th, 2017

On Friday, the Autumn Equinox takes place, which traditionally marks the change from summer to autumn, so we thought we’d take a look at a few of our product ranges that are well suited to all sorts of autumnal applications.

Coloured Labels & Kraft Labels
With the nights drawing in and the weather turning (even more) wintery, it’s the perfect time to add a bit of colour to your label applications; we’ve got seven pastel shades to add a subtle touch of colour (including our superbly autumnal crimson-red labels, orange-red labels, yellow labels, and brown Kraft labels) and five fluorescents if you’re looking for a burst of colour to brighten up the autumn months. Our pastel coloured labels can be printed with all kinds of desktop printers (inkjet or laser) or handwritten for that truly personal finishing touch, while our fluorescent labels can be printed with laser printers or handwritten.

Alternatively, if you’re looking for something to finish of your homemade arts and crafts projects, you should definitely take a look at our range of brown Kraft labels; these wonderfully decorative labels have a ribbed finish, which gives them a subtle touch of pattern and texture, while their natural brown colouring is perfect for any craft project (as well as the autumn season). These labels can also be printed with laser printers or inkjet printers and are also perfect for handwritten (or hand drawn) designs.

Freezer Labels & Wash Off Labels
In addition to taking on some crafty projects to avoid the gloom of the winter months, you may also be turning your attention to the creation of seasonally savoury and sweet dishes for the colder days ahead. With this in mind, you may find yourself in need of some self-adhesive labels that you can use to label up your ingredient containers and all of your bottles, jars, boxes, and bowls that you need to use to hold all of your delicious delights!

We have two products that are particularly useful for food and drink applications – namely our Freezer Labels (ideal for all those foods that you need to store away for a later date) and our Wash Off Labels (perfect for labelling all of the containers you need for ingredients and the finished product).

Our freezer labels are made with a special adhesive developed specifically for deep freeze conditions; standard adhesives often fail to sustain – or even create – an adhesive bond at cold temperatures, while deep freeze adhesives can be used to label all kinds of items that are already frozen or that will be frozen at a later date. Our freezer labels will work at temperatures of between -40°C to +60°C and are supplied as matt white paper labels (with that all-important deep freeze adhesive) that can be handwritten or printed with a laser printer.

Please note that we do NOT recommend printing our freezer labels with an inkjet printer as inkjet inks are generally water-based, which means your print will run or smudge if it comes into contact with condensation or other sources of water.

Our wash off labels, meanwhile, are also made with a specially developed adhesive designed to create a strong permanent adhesive bond that will break down when exposed to water; this means that you can safely and securely label containers before washing them (to cleanly remove the label without damaging your containers) so that you can reuse and relabel your containers again and again (and again!). Our wash off labels can be handwritten or printed with any desktop printer (laser or inkjet) and are matt white paper labels with that special wash off adhesive.

Splashproof Labels & Waterproof Labels
Finally, if you’re looking for some heavy duty labels that can withstand a bit of exposure to the great British weather during the autumn months, you might want to try our Waterproof Labels. All of these labels are made with synthetic materials (polyester, polyethylene, or polyolefin) and are therefore completely waterproof; this makes these labels ideal for any indoor or outdoor application where they might be exposed to (or indeed immersed in) water – a useful property if you’re looking for labels that can be used during the autumn months. Three of our waterproof labels (MWP, MWPE, and MWPO) are made with a special marine adhesive that meets the BS5609 part 2 standard for marine immersion, which makes these labels perfect for outside applications (and all of the environmental challenges that go along with being outside during a British autumn).

All of our waterproof labels MUST be printed using a LASER printer to produce fully waterproof labels (i.e. so that the labels AND the print you add onto them are both waterproof); laser printers use a dry printing process to bond a dry powder (toner) to the medium being printed, which produces waterproof print – inkjet printers, however, tend to use inks that are water-based, which means your print will run or smudge if it gets wet (or even if it is simply handled a lot).

You can print both our MWPE and MWPO labels with a laser printer or an inkjet printer but only a laser printer will produce waterproof print. To create waterproof print with an inkjet printer you would either need to find a way to add a protective layer over the top of your print (for example, by sticking a transparent label over the top) or you would need to source specialist inks and a printer that can produce waterproof inkjet print.

As a cheaper alternative, we offer “splashproof” labels; these labels are made with paper – meaning that they are NOT waterproof – but have a gloss or semi-gloss coating that offers limited protection against water, which allows them to be wiped clean and dry if they are accidentally splashed with a bit of water. So, if you don’t need a fully waterproof solution, our GW and SG labels offer budget friendly alternatives that will do the job you need them to just as well as our more durable synthetic labels.

Like our waterproof labels, you will need to print these labels using a laser printer (and not an inkjet printer).
