Wishing You All A Happy New Year From The Label Planet Team!

Hello!

We are back in the Label Planet offices (just about!) and we’d like to start by wishing all of our customers a very HAPPY NEW YEAR!

We hope you had a wonderful time celebrating the New Year with friends and family (and doesn’t it all seem like it was just yesterday…)!

Our computers have been fired up and we’re working our way through all of the orders we received over the Christmas holidays – as well as our emails. We’ll do our best to process as many orders and respond to as many emails as possible; we hope to have everything back up to speed by tomorrow.

If you’ve got any questions or queries about an order that you’ve already placed or an order that you want to place, hopefully these FAQs should answer your enquiry.

Why haven’t I received the self-adhesive labels that I ordered before Christmas?

If you received an email confirmation indicating that your printer labels were despatched before Christmas, then it depends on the quantity of blank labels you ordered (and the shipping service you requested).

Small orders (less than 200 sheets) are despatched by Royal Mail’s first class service as standard; this is NOT a guaranteed service and is liable to experience delays over the Christmas period (and so may still be on the way to you). If your self adhesive labels do not arrive by the end of the week, please get in touch to let us know.

Medium orders (200-475 sheets) are despatched via next working day carrier service as standard and so SHOULD have been delivered and signed for at your chosen delivery address. Please contact our Customer Service Team so that we can check the tracking information for your order.

Large orders (200+ sheets) are despatched via next working day carrier service as standard – where stock is available or once your items have been made. If your A4 labels haven’t arrived then they are most likely scheduled for manufacture and despatch from our warehouse this week. We will do our best to work through these orders as quickly as possible; if you need a firm despatch date then please get in touch with our Customer Service Team who will be able to confirm the status of your order with our warehouse.

If you did NOT receive an email confirming that your A4 labels were being despatched, then it is more than likely that your order is sitting in our “To Do” pile and will be processed today or tomorrow.

If you haven’t received ANY confirmation emails from us (including an initial payment confirmation and order confirmation) then you have either provided us with an incorrect email address, our emails have landed in your spam folder, or there was a problem with your payment. Please contact our Customer Service Team for further assistance.

Why haven’t I received a response to the email/sample request I sent to you over Christmas?

Our office was closed for Christmas so we were not available to respond to any messages sent to us over the holidays (whether via email / Facebook / Twitter / fax / post / voicemail / messenger pigeon etc). We will do our best to work through any and all messages received over Christmas – we prioritise orders before catching up with Christmas correspondence and sample requests, so please bear with us.

If I order A4 labels from you today, when will they be despatched (and delivered)?

SMALL ORDERS (less than 200 sheets): we are aiming to despatch all small orders today or tomorrow via Royal Mail’s first class service (up to 4:30pm). If you upgrade your order to a next day delivery option, we will prioritise your order to ensure it is despatched same day.

MEDIUM ORDERS (200-475 sheets): we are aiming to despatch all medium orders today or tomorrow via next working day carrier service (up to 3pm). Orders for delivery to Northern Ireland (large orders only), Republic of Ireland, Scottish Highlands & Islands, Isle of Man, Isles of Scilly, and the Channel Islands are sent via 2 day carrier service.

LARGE ORDERS (500+ sheets): we are currently working through a backlog of orders so our despatch estimates depend on the items you are ordering. Standard paper labels are kept in stock (and have shorter lead times) so these items are likely to be despatched early this week, while other made to order self adhesive labels will be subject to (at least) five working days for despatch. You can contact our Customer Service Team to check on stock availability and/or lead times for the blank labels you wish to buy.

FAQs For Last Minute Orders Of Self Adhesive Labels

There are only FIVE days left before we shut down the Label Planet office for Christmas, which means you have FIVE days left to place a last minute order for Christmas labels.

This post contains all of the answers to the FAQs that we receive every year around Christmas as a guide to placing a last minute order of self adhesive labels from Label Planet.

When are you open this week?

9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Can I still order blank labels for delivery BEFORE Christmas?

Yes, depending on:

  • The product and quantity of blank labels you are ordering
  • The delivery address for your order of self adhesive labels
  • The shipping options available for your order of sticky labels

Why does it matter what product and quantity I need?

ORDERS OF 500+ SHEETS: these items are despatched same day via carrier (up to 3pm) where stock is available; standard paper labels are kept in stock, while other materials and adhesives are made to order – at this time of year, the demand for self adhesive labels means that our lead times increase to 7+ working days, which means we cannot manufacture and despatch these items for delivery before Christmas.

PLEASE CALL OR EMAIL OUR CUSTOMER SERVICE TEAM TO CHECK STOCK AVAILABILITY

ORDERS OF 200-475 SHEETS: orders are despatched same day (up to 4pm) via carrier (next day service for UK mainland and 2 day service for Northern Ireland, Ireland, Scottish Highlands & Islands, and Islands With UK Postcodes).

ORDERS OF LESS THAN 200 SHEETS: orders are despatched same day (up to 4:30pm) via Royal Mail’s first class post as standard. Royal Mail do NOT guarantee first class items will be delivered next day and this service is likely to see delays at this time of year, which is why we recommend upgrading to a special delivery service.

What special delivery options are available?

Medium and large orders are despatched via next working day carrier service as standard (2 day for non-UK mainland), although we do have timed delivery services available (e.g. pre-10:30 delivery, pre-12 delivery etc) – contact our Customer Service Team by phone to find out more.

Small orders are despatched by Royal Mail’s first class service as standard; we STRONGLY recommend upgrading to Royal Mail’s Special Delivery Guaranteed service (next day delivery by 1pm). The shipping fee depends on the quantity of blank labels being ordered and you can upgrade online (after you have entered your delivery details) or by phone.

We also have a pre-9am delivery service and a Saturday delivery service for small orders; please phone our Customer Service Team to request either of these options.

Why does my delivery address matter?

Deliveries to Northern Ireland (large orders only), Republic of Ireland, Scottish Highlands & Islands, Isle of Man, Isles of Scilly, and the Channel Islands tend to take (at least) a day extra compared to delivery to the UK mainland. Medium and large orders (200+ sheets) are sent via 2 day carrier service, while small orders being delivered to Ireland are sent via Royal Mail’s International Standard service.

So what are your last despatch dates?

WEDNESDAY – Last orders for:

  • Delivery to Northern Ireland (200+ sheets), Republic of Ireland, Scottish Highlands & Islands, Isle of Man, Isles of Scilly, and the Channel Islands – UP TO 3PM.
  • Small orders being delivered to UK mainland & Northern Ireland via STANDARD delivery (Royal Mail’s first class service) – we cannot guarantee that these items will definitely arrive before Christmas – UP TO 4:30PM.

THURSDAY – Last orders for:

  • Large and medium orders (200+ sheets) being delivered to UK mainland via carrier service – UP TO 3PM (large orders) / 4PM (medium orders).
  • Small orders being delivered to UK mainland and Northern Ireland via SPECIAL delivery (Royal Mail’s Special Delivery Guaranteed service) – UP TO 4:30PM.

FRIDAY – Last orders for:

  • Small orders (less than 200 sheets) being delivered to UK mainland via SPECIAL SATURDAY delivery (Royal Mail’s Saturday Delivery Guaranteed service) – UP TO 4:30PM.

This service can ONLY be requested by phone; we CAN place orders of 200-250 sheets on this service if you wish but this does have a much higher shipping cost due to the weight of the items being delivered.

Will you stop accepting orders before Christmas?

NO; but if your items are out of stock OR you order after our last despatch dates your self adhesive labels will NOT arrive before Christmas.

Orders despatched via Royal Mail’s first class service that don’t arrive before Christmas will usually be delivered in the days after Christmas when service in your area resumes. Medium and large orders will be despatched via carrier when we re-open in the new year.

Quick Tips For Last Minute Address Labels & Gift Tags

If this is the year that you’re going to get truly creative for Christmas – but you’ve left it to the last minute – try our Quick Tips for Last Minute Christmas Labels!

Whether you’re making your own Christmas address labels, Christmas card labels, or Christmas gift tags, it’s really easy to create a set of seasonal address labels and gift tags with that extra special personal touch.

  • Personalise Christmas address labels with photographs, images, a Christmas-themed background, or a festive font!
  • Choose self-adhesive labels with a festive feel to give yourself a ready made seasonal background for your Christmas wishes or addresses.
  • Coloured labels are ideal Christmas labels and we offer pastel coloured labels (for a subtle touch of Christmas colour), fluorescent labels (for adhesive labels that are merry and bright), gold labels and silver labels (for a touch of seasonal shimmer), and brown Kraft labels (for a truly homemade feel).
  • Download label templates from our website; we have Word templates (for Word, Pages, LibreOffice etc) and PDF templates (for Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator etc).
  • Add your seasonal design to the first label in your label template and then use copy and paste to quickly AND accurately fill in the rest of the blank labels.
    Top tip: in Word, move your cursor to the bottom left corner of the first label and triple click your mouse (left button) to select the content AND the formatting options you have used.
  • Be careful with coloured backgrounds and borders; if your printer and/or label template aren’t quite accurate enough, you may end up with “white edging” where your label template is slightly misaligned with your labels. You can avoid this either by not using a coloured background or border OR by oversizing your background or border so that it overlaps the edges of each label – if possible.
    Top Tip:  centralise so your design so it always starts from the middle of each blank label and extends outwards, which helps to prevent your design getting cut off at the edges of your sheet labels.
  • In Word, use text boxes to control the positioning of text in your Christmas design (and add a festive border) and use the “Wrap Text” option in the “Picture Tools Format” tab to control the positioning of any images (use “Tight” or “In Front Of Text”).
  • Use Word’s built in Mail Merge tool to create personalised address labels. The Mail Merge Wizard (click on the “Mailings” tab, then click on the “Start Mail Merge” button, and select “Step-by-Step Mail Merge Wizard”) will guide you through the SIX steps:
  1. Select Document Type: create a set of address labels.
  2. Select Starting Document: select your label template; Mail Merge works best with a built in Avery template (click “Change document layout” then “Label options”) but you can use a label template you have downloaded (e.g. from the Label Planet website) and saved to your computer (“Start from existing document”) OR use the “New Label” option in the “Label options” box to create your own label template.
    Label templates AND measurements for all of our label sizes can be found on the template information page for each of our products; use the “Templates & Printing Information” link on the product page or navigate from our Template Home Page to find the templates and information you need.
  3. Select Recipients: connect your label template to your list of addresses using the “Use existing list” option. Once you have confirmed that you are happy with the information in your list, a <<Next Record>> rule is added to each blank label in your label template (except the first one).
    If you have downloaded a label template, you need to add this rule manually; click on the “Rules” button in the “Mailings” tab at the top of the page and select “Next Record” from the drop down list.
  4. Arrange Your Labels: add your Christmas label design; if you are using a built in template (or one you have made) you can add your design to the top left label and use the “Update All Labels” button to fill in the rest of your label template.
    Use placeholders to indicate where the information from your list should sit; add individual fields using the “More Items” option or use the “Address Block” to insert your addresses in a single placeholder.
  5. Preview Your Labels: check that your information fits into your design properly (and go back to make amends if it does not).
  6. Complete The Merge: merge your label template with your list of addresses to create one unique address label for each of the recipients on your Christmas list.
  • ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS test print your Christmas label template onto paper BEFORE loading your sheet labels proper; this allows you to check that your label template and printer are set up correctly to produce the print quality and alignment that you need to produce perfect Christmas labels.
  • Use the media bypass tray (if your printer has one) and go through your printer’s properties to make sure you are using a Page Size of A4, a Media Type/Weight of Labels (or Heavy Paper), and that no scaling options (e.g. less than 100% or “Fit to Page/Sheet”) are selected.

Orders of 200+ sheets are sent via next working day carrier service (where stock is available; delivery to Northern Ireland, Ireland, Scottish Highlands & Islands, Isle of Man, Isles of Scilly, and the Channel Islands is via 2 day carrier service). Smaller orders are despatched via Royal Mail’s first class service as standard. First class items are NOT guaranteed to arrive the next day and so we strongly recommend upgrading your order (online or by phone) to a next day delivery service.

Despatch & Delivery Update – Last Posting Dates For 2017

There are only a few weeks left before Christmas, which means that those all-important despatch and delivery deadlines are creeping closer and closer.

If you’re planning to buy self-adhesive labels in December, our advice – as ever – is to order AS SOON AS POSSIBLE (if not RIGHT NOW!) and to put small orders (under 250 sheets) on our guaranteed next day delivery service.

While we do everything we can to get orders despatched as quickly as possible, our despatch AND delivery estimates are increasing:

  • More orders are being placed (usually for larger quantities), which means there are more sticky labels in the queue for manufacturing – increasing DESPATCH estimates for made to order items and bulk boxes (up to 5-7 working days).
  • More items are being delivered; we always despatch orders as quickly as possible but have no control over delays within the Royal Mail’s network or our carrier’s network – possibly increasing DELIVERY estimates for all orders.

Generally speaking, GUARANTEED delivery services tend to maintain expected levels of service – it is only the Royal Mail’s first class service (used for small orders) that experiences delays, which is why we strongly recommend upgrading to a guaranteed delivery service.

Let The Christmas Countdown…Commence!

It is officially TWO MONTHS until Christmas Day, which means that it is time once again to launch our countdown to Christmas by reminding our customers of all the reasons why it’s really important to get your labels ordered EARLY!!

At Label Planet, we highly recommend that ALL of our customers should try to place their label orders as early as possible to help avoid headaches and heartaches as the Christmas season edges closer and closer.

Whether you’re an individual who just needs a few address labels for your Christmas cards, a business with Christmas stock to get packed and/or posted, or you’re hosting a Christmas event – it’s always a good idea to get your labels ordered in plenty of time.

Many people consider ordering labels to be the LAST job on their (Christmas) to-do list, which is fine if you’re really organised and you’ve been planning your Christmas jobs since – well – summer BUT at this time of year it’s worth bearing in mind that it is almost INEVITABLE that pretty much EVERYTHING will take longer than you’d expect.

For example, when you order labels you need to remember that you have to leave enough time for:

  1. Your labels to be despatched from our office or warehouse
  2. Your labels to be delivered to you by Royal Mail or our carrier
  3. You to design your label template
  4. You to PRINT your label template (including time to correct any mishaps that occur along the way)
  5. You to stick your labels onto your items
  6. You to post your items AND for them to be delivered (if you’re trying to send products, cards, or gifts out to arrive at their intended destination BEFORE Christmas).

At this time of year, there are hundreds and thousands of additional items being manufactured and delivered all across the country – meaning it can take longer for items to be made (if you are ordering made to order items) AND for items to be delivered.

So, here at Label Planet we have TWO top tips for ordering your Christmas labels:

  1. ORDER AS EARLY AS YOU CAN
  2. REQUEST AN UPGRADED DELIVERY SERVICE (IF ONE IS AVAILABLE)

While our despatch estimate for made to order items (i.e. labels only available in bulk boxes of 500 sheets) is USUALLY up to five working days, the volume of orders in the lead up to Christmas will push this despatch estimate upwards (usually we see despatch go up to 5-7 working days and possibly even 7-10 working days in December). While we aim to keep our despatch times as low as possible for as long as possible, we do recommend ordering early to avoid disappointment.

If you are ordering smaller quantities (e.g. 25-200 sheets), we highly recommend upgrading to our next working day delivery service – especially once we get into November and December when the Royal Mail experience a much higher volume of items, which can lead to delays with their first class service (our standard delivery service for small orders).

We do also have some timed delivery services available for items that are sent via next working day carrier service (this applies to orders of stocked items of 250+ sheets and orders of bulk boxes of 500 sheets) – to find out what services are available and to request a special delivery option, please contact our Customer Service Team.

Last Orders (Of Labels) Please!

Christmas is undoubtedly here and while we hope that all of our customers have had a couple of busy yet brilliantly successful weeks (or months) getting things done in time for Christmas, we know that, unfortunately, things don’t always go to plan – so if you find that you need a last minute order of labels, read on for our (Last Minute) Despatch & Delivery information.

We will be processing and despatching orders Monday to Thursday this week, as follows:

STOCKED ITEMS:
Small Orders (25-200 sheets):
Orders accepted up to: 4:30pm on Thursday (22nd December)
Despatched via: Royal Mail’s first class service
LAST ORDERS FOR CHRISTMAS DELIVERY: the last recommended posting date is WEDNESDAY 21ST DECEMBER.

You MUST bear in mind that the reliability of this service will be lower than usual due to the amount of items being despatched at this time of year. We STRONGLY recommending upgrading your order to guaranteed next day delivery (available online or by phone) if you must receive your labels before Christmas. The last posting date for Royal Mail’s guaranteed next day delivery is THURSDAY 22ND DECEMBER.

Please note: we will only be able to despatch large orders where stock is available and so we would recommend that if you need to order a large quantity of labels AND receive them before Christmas you should contact us BEFORE placing your order so that we can confirm if the items are in stock and available to fulfil your order.

NON-STOCKED & MADE TO ORDER ITEMS:
These items have a minimum order quantity of 500 sheets listed on our website and are usually made to order items; due to the extension in manufacturing times at this time of year, we will NOT be able to despatch any non-stocked or made to order items before 2017.

If you aren’t sure whether or not the labels you want to order are available for despatch AND delivery before Christmas then you should get in touch with us BEFORE placing your order so we can discuss your requirements and confirm the despatch/delivery estimate for those specific items.

If you don’t mind when your labels arrive, you can order at any time before 4:30pm on Thursday OR you can place an order over the Christmas break – when things are a little bit “quieter”! Any orders we receive after 4:30pm on Thursday will be processed and despatched when we return from our Christmas break on January 3rd 2017.

Whether you simply want to add a temporary touch of Christmas magic to badges already worn by your employees or you’re in charge of planning a Christmas event and need name badges and/or table place cards for everyone, we’ve got the perfect labels for you!

You might be looking for a professional finish to suit a Christmas networking event or an exhibition. Alternatively, you might be planning a massive Christmas party and need suitably seasonal badges and place cards to get everyone organised!

If you are selecting labels to be used as name badges for people to wear (i.e. that will be stuck directly onto people’s clothing), you need to bear in mind that adhesives don’t tend to work as effectively on fabrics as they do on other surfaces. So, while you might be tempted to go for a removable adhesive (because you obviously want the labels to come off without damaging people’s clothing once the event is over), you may actually find that this type of adhesive isn’t strong enough to keep the labels on during your event. Most people use one of our standard permanent adhesives for this particular purpose to ensure that the labels will remain in place for the event but then peel off easily when they are no longer needed.

All of our labels can be printed with standard desktop printers BUT you can also write on our products – so you can print a Christmas design onto your labels along with a blank space for guests to write in their own name.

Matt White Paper Labels

Premium Quality Paper Labels
For a slightly more professional and decorative finish, these labels are made with a high quality paper with a special coating that produces a smooth finish and excellent print resolution – ideal for a professional look or for printing high quality images/designs (for example, if you wish to include photographs as part of your design).

Coloured Labels / Fluorescent Labels
If you’re after something that’s a bit more FUN or suits the colouring of your Christmas theme, why not try our seven pastel colours (for a subtle touch of colour) or our five fluorescents (for a not-so-subtle burst of colour).

Gold Labels / Silver Labels
