It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like (This Is A Blog About) Christmas (Despatch & Delivery Information)!

Monday, November 7th, 2016

Yes, yes, we know – it’s far too early to talk about Christmas, but with only 48 days (yes, we counted!) and only 35 WORKING days (yes, we counted again) left until Christmas  – it’s never too early to get organised, especially if you need Christmas labels that will actually arrive BEFORE Christmas.

The majority of the labels that we sell at this time of year, as you can probably guess, end up being used as Christmas product labels, address labels for Christmas cards, invites, and mailers, or as part of Christmas events – so all of these labels need to be ordered, despatched, delivered, designed, printed, applied, and despatched on to their final destination BEFORE Christmas arrives – and doesn’t that just make those 48 days (or 35 working days) seem a lot less longer than they did before?!

A lot of our customers end up buying their labels as the very last step in their Christmas projects; they may have spent weeks and months (and years!) putting together Christmas product ranges, working on marketing and promotional campaigns for the Christmas season, or creating special invitations and cards BUT the labels they need to complete these projects all too often end up being a last minute thought – when, actually, they need a lot more than a “last minute” to get them just right.

Simply designing a template and getting it to print correctly can take much longer than you’d think and you’d be surprised at how many of our customers are caught out by forgetting to account for the time that it will take them to actually stick their labels onto their products/packaging/marketing materials/invitations etc. And all of this is before you consider the implications of trying to get things delivered at this time of year!

So, with all of this in mind, we’d like to encourage ALL of our customers to plan ahead and to order their Christmas labels as soon as they can – so you don’t end up in a last minute panic! Here is our despatch & delivery information for November & December;

25-200 sheets
Despatched from stock via Royal Mail’s first class service (or Signed For first class service where the value is £35+).
Order by 4:30pm, Monday to Friday, to qualify for same day despatch – LAST POSTING DATE: Wednesday 21st December.
Please note: we will still process and despatch small orders of stocked items up to 4:30pm on Friday 23rd December but these items are not guaranteed to arrive before Christmas.
250-475 sheets
Despatched from stock via next working day carrier service.
Order by 3:30pm, Monday to Friday, to qualify for same day despatch – LAST POSTING DATE: Friday 23rd December.
500+ sheets (stocked items)
Despatched from stock via next working day carrier service.
Order by 3pm, Monday to Friday, to qualify for same day despatch – LAST POSTING DATE: Friday 23rd December.
If the item(s) you order are temporarily out of stock, they will be made and despatched within a couple of working days.
500+ sheets (made to order items)
Despatch is up to five working days via next working day carrier service (standard paper items are usually despatched sooner).
As we get closer to Christmas, demand for made to order items soars, which means that items will eventually be placed on a waiting list for manufacture and the lead time is likely to increase – in our experience, it will usually become 5 working days (and not “up to”) before extending to 7-10 working days as December approaches. Depending on the level of demand, production of made to order items will usually stop in early/mid-December with despatch and delivery estimates shifting into 2017.
This means that it is especially important to order your labels early if you know that you need to order a large quantity of (made to order) labels.

Special Delivery Options
As Christmas gets ever closer, the reliability of delivery services (and especially the Royal Mail) does decline as more and more items are sent out in time for Christmas, which means that it’s a good idea to consider upgrading your order to a special delivery option – especially if you’ve got some pretty tight deadlines to meet. We offer the following special delivery options:
Royal Mail’s Guaranteed Next Working Day Delivery (by 1pm)
25-200 sheets only; available by phone or online; requires a signature on delivery – HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Royal Mail’s Guaranteed Next Working Day Delivery (by 9am)
25-200 sheets only; available by phone; requires a signature on delivery
Royal Mail’s Guaranteed Next Working Day Delivery (Saturday)
25-200 sheets only; available by phone; requires a signature on delivery – in our experience, NOT 100% reliable
Timed Next Working Day Delivery via Carrier (pre-10:30am/pre-noon/Saturday)
250+ sheets only; available by phone; requires a signature on delivery

Delivery to Northern Ireland & Republic of Ireland (+ Islands With UK Postcodes & “Extended Postcodes”)
These areas tend to have slightly longer delivery times all year round, which means it’s even more important to order early if you need your labels delivering to one of these locations before Christmas.
Small orders (25-200 sheets):
Northern Ireland, Islands With UK Postcodes, Extended Postcodes:
Despatch same day via Royal Mail’s first class service (Mon-Fri, up to 4:30pm), LAST POSTING DATE: Wednesday 23rd December
Republic Of Ireland
Despatch same day via Royal Mail’s international standard service (Mon-Fri, up to 4:30pm), LAST POSTING DATE: Friday 16th December
Medium/large orders (250+ sheets & made to order items):
Despatch same day from stock (or when made to order items have been made) via 2-3 working day carrier service (Mon-Fri, up to 3pm), LAST POSTING DATE: Wednesday 21st December

Remember, if you have any questions about our despatch and delivery, would like to check the stock availability or despatch estimate of a particular item, or need some advice about how to order the labels you want in time for a specific deadline, please get in touch with our Customer Service Team.

FAQ – How & When Will My Labels Be Delivered?

Thursday, January 22nd, 2015

Simply put, it depends on what delivery service level you choose!

STANDARD DELIVERY
Generally speaking, our standard delivery options are as follows:

  • Small Orders (25-200 sheets of labels): Royal Mail’s first class service
Stocked items ordered before 4:30pm will be despatched from our office via Royal Mail’s first class service on the day that your order is placed (Mon-Fri). Around 93% of this arrives the next day, however it is NOT a guaranteed service and may take a day or two extra.
  • Large Orders/Made To Order Items (200+ sheets or boxes of 500 sheets): next working day carrier
If your order contains 200+ sheets of stocked items (and is placed before 3pm, Mon-Fri), it will be despatched the same day via our next working day carrier service. Orders of 500+ sheets will be despatched via a next working day carrier service once the labels are available (either from stock or once they have been made).

Standard delivery is included in the prices displayed on our website.

SPECIAL DELIVERY
If you’ve got a deadline to meet, we also offer special delivery options to ensure that your order arrives on time:

  • Small Orders (25-200 sheets of labels): Royal Mail’s Guaranteed Next Working Day Delivery/Guaranteed Saturday Delivery/Guaranteed Next Working Day Pre-9AM Delivery
For smaller orders, we have three special delivery options for customers to choose from.
The Guaranteed Next Working Day Delivery option guarantees that you will receive your order by 1pm on the next working day (if you order on a Friday, this option guarantees that the item will be delivered by 1pm on Monday, although customers with a regular Saturday delivery may find that their items are delivered on Saturday).
This upgrade is available by phone or as you checkout online; if your order qualifies, you will be offered the chance to upgrade before you reach the Payment Details page as you proceed through the checkout.
We are also able to offer a Saturday Delivery option and a Pre-9AM Next Working Day Delivery option. Both of these options are only available to request by phone.
The cost to upgrade to any of these three services depends on the total quantity of sheets being ordered and the price we quote is simply the amount that Royal Mail charges us.
  • Large Orders/Made To Order Items (200+ sheets or boxes of 500 sheets): AM delivery options via next working day carrier
If your order contains 200+ sheets of stocked items or boxes of 500 sheets, we are able to offer Guaranteed AM Delivery options.
These options are only available to request by phone and the cost will depend on the weight of the items being delivered and the delivery region.

If you have a particularly urgent order and want to make sure you choose the right delivery option, or if you aren’t sure about the delivery services available for your particular order, please get in touch.

You can find out more about the delivery options available on our Delivery Information pages.

Please note that:

  • We do not offer same day delivery
  • Our office hours are 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday
  • To guarantee same day despatch of stocked items, please ensure that your order reaches us by 4:30pm for small orders and by 3pm for large orders.

[Made to order items will always be despatched by a next working day carrier service. Despatch may take up to five working days, although standard paper items are usually sent much sooner – where they are in stock, they will be despatched same day.]

  • While we endeavour to ensure ALL orders are despatched as quickly as possible and on the most efficient delivery service possible, we would encourage customers who need their order urgently to take advantage of the special delivery options available or to get in touch with us so that we can discuss and arrange the most suitable delivery options with them.

Royal Mail PPI Stamps: Which Labels Do I Need?

Thursday, January 8th, 2015

Royal Mail offer a service that allows customers to create and download their own PPI stamps to print onto all of their postal items, from the smallest of envelopes to the biggest of parcels.

Last year, Royal Mail updated all of the PPI designs available for each of their delivery categories and created designs for their new “Royal Mail 24” and “Royal Mail 48” services. You can find all of the sizes and PPI designs on the Royal Mail’s website.

You can choose to print your PPI designs directly onto your envelopes or packaging; however, you may prefer to print onto labels that can then be applied to all kinds of packaging. The Royal Mail offers guidelines and advice for choosing and printing your PPIs, but the two main things you need to think about if you want to print onto labels are:

1. The amount of available blank space on your envelopes, packets, or packages.
(The Royal Mail has specific guidelines for the size and positioning of any information that is added onto envelopes and packaging – see their website for full details)
2. The size of label you buy needs to be BIGGER than the size of the PPI design, to ensure that the entire PPI will fit neatly onto your label.

We’ve put together a list of EXAMPLE label sizes that you could choose, depending on the PPI design you decide to use:

FIRST CLASS, SECOND CLASS, ECONOMY, ADVERTISING MAIL (Big Book/Heavyweight options) – ENGLISH VERSIONS

FIRST CLASS, SECOND CLASS, ECONOMY, ADVERTISING MAIL (Big Book/Heavyweight options) – BILINGUAL VERSIONS

Where these four services have PPI designs made up of two parts (the “Delivered by Royal Mail” mark and a Delivery Speed Indicator), the “Royal Mail 24” and “Royal Mail 48” PPI designs have either two components (where space is limited) or three components (where a Service Graphics Box is added at the left hand side of the PPI design). This means that these designs are larger and so will require a larger size of label.

ROYAL MAIL 24, ROYAL MAIL 24 SIGNED FOR, ROYAL MAIL 48, ROYAL MAIL 48 SIGNED FOR – 3 COMPONENTS – ENGLISH VERSIONS

ROYAL MAIL 24, ROYAL MAIL 24 SIGNED FOR, ROYAL MAIL 48, ROYAL MAIL 48 SIGNED FOR – 3 COMPONENTS – BILINGUAL VERSIONS

ROYAL MAIL 24, ROYAL MAIL 24 SIGNED FOR, ROYAL MAIL 48, ROYAL MAIL 48 SIGNED FOR – 2 COMPONENTS – ENGLISH VERSIONS

ROYAL MAIL 24, ROYAL MAIL 24 SIGNED FOR, ROYAL MAIL 48, ROYAL MAIL 48 SIGNED FOR – 2 COMPONENTS – BILINGUAL VERSIONS

Last Posting Dates For Christmas 2014 (!)

Thursday, November 13th, 2014

Yes, yes, we know – not another company harping on about ordering stuff in time for Christmas!
However, we hope you’ll forgive us when we point out that:

  1. We just want to make sure all of our lovely customers receive their labels safely and swiftly despite the chaos of Christmas!
  2. Christmas Day is just six weeks away!

If you haven’t already, many of our customers will soon be looking to purchase labels for items that absolutely HAVE to arrive in time for Christmas – whether you need them for letters, cards, or gifts for family and friends or you’re a company and want to provide a seasonal Santa-like service and ensure that all of your customers’ orders are delivered in time for Christmas.

Labels often become a bit of an after-thought that gets left to the last minute, but it’s important to remember that whenever you order labels you need to allow time for the labels to arrive, to design your template, to print your labels, and to apply your labels – all of which soon adds up. If you then need to send your labelled items to family, friends, or customers, you also have to leave time for the items themselves to arrive safely before Christmas.

Therefore, at this time of the year we strongly advise customers to take advantage of one of our next working day shipping options, just to make absolutely sure that your labels arrive securely and with plenty of time to spare. If you need to send your labels on for printing or if you have despatch and delivery schedules of your own to keep to, it’s vital that you make sure you order your labels as early as possible.

So, here are those all important dates:

ROYAL MAIL’S INTERNATIONAL STANDARD/TRACKED SERVICES – Saturday 13th December
ROYAL MAIL’S FIRST CLASS/FIRST CLASS SIGNED FOR SERVICES – Saturday 20th December
ROYAL MAIL’S GUARANTEED NEXT DAY DELIVERY SERVICE – Tuesday 23rd December

Of course, we only process and despatch orders during the working week (Monday to Friday) so if you need to receive your labels in time for Christmas (i.e. – you DON’T need the labels for items that are to be despatched to someone else), your last ordering dates for labels from Label Planet are as follows:

ROYAL MAIL’S INTERNATIONAL STANDARD/TRACKED SERVICES – Friday 12th December
ROYAL MAIL’S FIRST CLASS/FIRST CLASS SIGNED FOR SERVICES – Friday 19th December
ROYAL MAIL’S GUARANTEED NEXT DAY DELIVERY SERVICE – Tuesday 23rd December

BUT REMEMBER: if you need labels for items that you are sending out that MUST arrive before Christmas, you need to order your labels well BEFORE these last posting dates – and adding a guaranteed delivery service to your order is a very, very good idea!!!

Labels For The New Royal Mail PPI Stamps

Thursday, July 25th, 2013

We have a number of customers who use labels to print out Royal Mail PPIs for their post – in fact we do the same.

Recently the Royal Mail have introduced a number of changes to the design of their PPIs; all of the designs now include a “Delivered by Royal Mail” mark, and PPIs have been introduced for the new “Royal Mail 24” and “Royal Mail 48” delivery categories. This means that the sizes of the designs have been adjusted accordingly and we’ve had a number of queries from customers asking for labels that match the dimensions from the site.

The sizes provided on the Royal Mail website indicate the size of the images – not the size of label that is required. All you need to do is work out how much space you have on your envelope, packet, or package and find a label that is bigger than the PPI image but still fits neatly on the item.

For example, for the four sizes of PPI images available for First Class, you could use the following labels:
14mm x 54mm – you could use LP27/63 (29.6mm x 63.5mm)
22mm x 80mm – you could use LP16/99 (34mm x 99.1mm)
26mm x 93mm – you could use LP16/99 (34mm x 99.1mm)
30mm x 58mm – you could use LP18/63 (46.6mm x 63.5mm)

The Royal Mail website has further information about how to use PPIs, and the guidelines that need to be met.
