Try Self-Adhesive Labels From Label Planet – They’re Out Of This World!

Wednesday, January 24th, 2018

Here at Label Planet, we made a deliberate decision to specialise in A4 sheets of self-adhesive labels designed specifically for use with standard desktop printers. Choosing to focus on just one specific kind of sticky labels means that we can pass on all sorts of astronomically awesome benefits to all of our customers.

Self-Adhesive Labels

These sticky labels are named after their adhesives; “self adhesive” or pressure sensitive adhesives are tacky (sticky) at room temperature and only require the light pressure of a hand or finger to be applied.

Self adhesive labels are really useful because they can be made in so many different variations – to suit different applications, conditions, and environments. For example, you can get gloss labels, matt labels, semi-gloss labels, coloured labels, fluorescent labels, Kraft labels, gold labels, silver labels, white labels, transparent labels, paper labels, plastic labels, waterproof labels, permanent labels, removable labels, freezer labels, wash off labels, opaque labels, security labels, and so on (and so forth!).

Laser Labels And Inkjet Labels

We sell directly to customers who want to print their own printer labels using the standard desktop printer they have available to them at home or at work. By choosing to supply A4 labels that are designed specifically for desktop machines, we are able to offer our customers a range of label sizes and material options that are specifically designed to allow them to create high quality sticky labels quickly and easily using the software and hardware available to them.

Our laser labels are made using materials and adhesives that are well-suited to the laser printing process – which uses heat and pressure to bond toner into place. This means that we use materials that are able to withstand (short term) exposure to high temperatures, such as paper labels with high moisture content.

Likewise, our inkjet labels are made using slightly porous materials that allow printing inks to dry quickly and effectively in the correct position to allow customers to produce high resolution designs using their own desktop inkjet printer.

Perfect Label Sizes And Layouts (And Label Templates To Match!)

All of our label sizes are made with layouts that are designed to make designing and printing your own A4 labels as simple and trouble-free as possible. We’ve also created Word templates and PDF templates for all of our label sizes, which can be downloaded completely free of charge from our Label Template Pages.

If you need any advice or guidance on how to print your own blank labels, you can take a look through the Guides in our Help Section or get in touch with our Customer Service Team for one-to-one advice.

An Astronomical Range Of Choices (With Warp Speed Despatch & Delivery!)

As we specialise in blank A4 labels, we are able to offer a wide range of self adhesive labels – with over 100 label sizes available across a range of more than 30 material and adhesive options – so you can find the label size, material, adhesive, and finish that is just right for your label application.

We aim to stock as many of the most popular combinations as possible, so your sticky labels are available for same day despatch in stock – with options available for guaranteed next day delivery.

High Quality Blank Labels At Great Value Prices

All of our self adhesive labels are manufactured independently in the UK using high quality materials and manufacturing processes. Plus, as a specialty supplier of A4 labels, we are able to offer our customers great value prices, as well as price breaks for trade customers who need to order in bulk.

You can find out more about SELF-ADHESIVE LABELS on our website; to place an order, simply visit www.labelplanet.co.uk or get in touch with our Customer Service Team.

Put Our Self Adhesive Labels To The Test With Our Label Sample Request Service

Wednesday, January 10th, 2018

At Label Planet, we believe in doing everything we can to help our customers choose the perfect self adhesive labels for their projects. From address labels to product labels (and everything inbetween), we offer the widest possible range of options to ensure that you can find the sticky labels you need in the Label Planet range.

We know, however, that it can be difficult to choose just one label size / shape / material / adhesive from all of the options on offer – especially if you’ve never printed your own A4 labels before now.

This is why we offer a completely free LABEL SAMPLE service whereby you can request a few label sizes, shapes, materials, and adhesives to help you to find “the one” that’s perfect for your project.

To request a free sample of any of our blank labels, give us a call or fill in our online request form.

If you aren’t sure which sticky labels to choose, simply let us know as much information about your label application as possible (i.e. what you need self adhesive labels for and what you’d like them to look like) and we’ll put together a selection of the blank labels that best fit your requirements.

For example, let us know if you need laser labels (for a laser printer) or inkjet labels (for an inkjet printer), if you have any preference for coloured labels / kraft labels / fluorescent labels / white labels / gloss labels / transparent labels, if you need waterproof labels / security labels / freezer labels / bottle labels and jar labels, or if you have any preferences for a particular label size.

This helps us to make sure that the sample labels we send are suitable for your particular label application.

You can then use your sample to choose the right colour or finish, the right type and strength of label adhesive, and the right label size for your application. You can also use your sample to replicate your label application as closely as possible – to make sure that the self adhesive labels you choose will actually work under the conditions of your label application – and to give yourself a test run at printing a label template accurately.

We try to fulfil sample requests same or next working day; samples are posted out via Royal Mail’s first class service as standard.

Visit our website to view all of the label sizes and materials available and then head over to our sample request page (or give us a call) to request a label sample today!

Make A Big Splash With Splashproof Labels From Label Planet

Wednesday, November 15th, 2017

Today, we’re taking a closer look at our SPLASHPROOF LABELS (Semi-Gloss Labels & Gloss Laser Labels) to find out why they’re the perfect choice when you need self adhesive labels that can put up with a splish (or a splash) of water.

What are SPLASHPROOF labels?

Splashproof labels are paper labels with a special coating that provides light protection against a small splash of water. This means that if these white labels are lightly splashed with water, they can be wiped clean and dry without the labels being damaged.

They are NOT waterproof labels; where waterproof labels can be exposed to and/or submerged in water without being damaged, splashproof labels are still – essentially – paper labels that will be damaged by exposure to/submersion in water.

How does the coating protect splashproof labels from water damage?

A self-adhesive label has two main layers (the face material and the adhesive) that are carried on a backing sheet; many adhesive labels have additional layers (such as a coating) to add particular characteristics to blank labels. For example, coatings are used to create specific finishes (e.g. gloss labels, matt labels, semi-gloss labels, satin labels, silk labels etc) or to add a protective layer over the face material and adhesive. This is how the coating on splashproof labels works; it sits on top of the paper labels so that water (or dust or dirt etc) lands on the coating and NOT on the paper face material. The water can then be wiped away without damaging the paper labels.

The reason that splashproof labels are NOT waterproof labels is that this coating is a very thin layer and does not provide a full seal all the way around the paper label beneath; if a splashproof label is exposed to or submerged in a lot of water, the water will break through the protective coating to the paper face material underneath.

So why would I use splashproof labels instead of waterproof labels?

Generally speaking, the deciding factor between the two is usually budget; waterproof labels are made with synthetic plastics (polyester, polyolefin, polyethylene etc), which makes them more expensive than paper labels.

Most of our customers who choose splashproof labels are printing product labels and either don’t have the budget for waterproof labels or want a budget-friendly alternative that won’t eat into their profit margin. If you know that your products MIGHT be exposed to a light splash of water every now and then, splashproof labels might offer enough basic protection so that you don’t need to pay extra for a completely waterproof label solution.

We are more than happy to send out samples of our splashproof labels so you can test them for yourself.

Why do you only supply splashproof laser labels?

Both our splashproof gloss labels and semi-gloss labels are LASER LABELS (i.e. they must be printed using a laser printer). They are made with materials that are well-suited to the laser printing process (a dry printing process that uses heat and pressure to bond a dry powder called toner onto surfaces), which produces waterproof print. This means both the splashproof labels AND the print that is added to them will survive a splash of water.

While it is possible to make waterproof or splashproof inkjet LABELS, inkjet INKS are NOT waterproof; they are water-based and will run or smudge under even the lightest splash of water.

What sorts of label applications are suitable for splashproof labels?

Splashproof labels are excellent product labels – especially on products that are to be used and/or stored in places where they might get splashed (e.g. kitchens and bathrooms) or on containers that will contain liquids (e.g. food labels, drink labels, bottle labels, jar labels, and cosmetics labels).

In addition to creating a protective layer, the coatings on these paper labels produce an attractive and decorative surface, with the choice of a bright “full gloss” finish (for a dazzling, eye-catching labels) or a more demure “semi-gloss” finish (for a subtle touch of shine).

What splashproof labels are available from Label Planet?

We have TWO types of splashproof labels:

  • GW: gloss paper labels for laser printers; these white labels have a permanent adhesive and are made with paper that has a gloss coating, which gives them a bright and shiny finish.
  • SG: semi-gloss labels for laser printers; these white paper labels have a permanent adhesive and a semi-gloss finish (this falls between the bright shine of a gloss finish and the dull surface of a matt finish).

Visit the range pages for GW and SG to find out more about our superb splashproof labels, to find out what label sizes are available, or to place an order for your very own splashproof labels today!

FAQ – What’s The Difference Between A “Standard” Adhesive & A “Special” Adhesive?

Wednesday, September 13th, 2017

All of our products are self-adhesive labels that are made with “pressure sensitive adhesives”; this simply means that the adhesives on our labels are tacky (sticky) under normal conditions and therefore only require the pressure of a finger or hand to create a successful adhesive bond.

Pressure sensitive adhesives can be broadly divided into “permanent adhesives” (designed to hold a label firmly in place and making it as difficult as possible to remove the label) and “removable adhesives” (designed to hold a label in place while it is needed before removing cleanly and easily from a surface without doing any damage or leaving behind any adhesive residue in the process). You may have noticed that we have a variety of labels that we describe as having either a “standard permanent adhesive” or a “standard removable adhesive” – you may also have noticed that we have other products that we describe as having “special” adhesives and you may have wondered what the difference is between these categories.

Essentially, a “standard” adhesive is a general purpose adhesive that has been designed to create a good adhesive bond between two surfaces under “normal” conditions. “Special” adhesives, meanwhile, are designed to create an adhesive bond that is suitable for a particular label application (and the specific set of environmental conditions or requirements that the application entails) – usually because a standard adhesive wouldn’t be able to produce and/or sustain a successful adhesive bond under those conditions.

At Label Planet, we have a variety of “special” adhesives, each of which has been manufactured to produce specific characteristics that make that adhesive well-suited to a particular label application or set of environmental conditions.

SUPER TACK ADHESIVE
This adhesive has been specially developed to create an extremely strong adhesive bond between a wide range of materials; the adhesive has extremely strong initial and ultimate tack, which means that it instantly creates an extremely strong adhesive bond at the moment a label is applied, which will then go on to strengthen and set into a stronger bond. Super tack adhesives are designed for label applications where a standard permanent adhesive simply cannot create and/or sustain a bond between two materials (usually because the materials are unusual in texture and/or the surface is curved or shaped in some manner) OR where there is an important need to make sure that the label is extremely difficult to remove (for example, because the label carries vital identifying information, health and safety warnings, and/or instructions for use).

Our Super Tack Labels (product code: ST) are paper labels with a super tack adhesive and can be printed using an inkjet printer or a laser printer OR they can be handwritten. These labels are made with our strongest permanent adhesive to date and are suitable for label applications that involve unusual materials and/or surfaces, that involve cold temperatures, or that require labels that will remain firmly in place over a long period of time and prove to be extremely difficult to remove.

HIGH TACK ADHESIVE
Similar to a super tack adhesive, a high tack adhesive offers a stronger adhesive bond than that which is created by standard permanent adhesives (although it is not as strong as a super tack adhesive). High tack adhesives have strong initial and ultimate tack and are capable of creating strong adhesive bonds between a wide range of materials and surface types.

Our High Tack Labels (product code: HT) are paper labels with a high tack adhesive and can be printed using an inkjet printer or a laser printer OR they can be handwritten. These labels are well-suited to label applications where a standard adhesive isn’t capable of creating and sustaining an adhesive bond OR where there is a need to make absolutely sure that the labels will remain firmly in place for an extended period of time.

MARINE ADHESIVE
The term “marine adhesive” is applied to adhesives that have been designed to create and sustain an adhesive bond in marine environments. Our marine adhesive conforms to the BS5609 part 2 standard for marine immersions to qualify for this certification, the adhesive undergoes a number of rigorous tests to ensure that it will work in tough marine conditions, including submersion in salt water for three months. This adhesive was developed specifically for labelling chemical drums that are shipped overseas (where the drums MUST remain clearly labelled even if they fall overboard).

We supply THREE product ranges with a marine adhesive; our Matt White Polyester Labels (product code: MWP) are made with matt white polyester and a marine adhesive, our Polyethylene Labels (product code: MWPE) are made with matt white polyethylene and a marine adhesive, and our Polyolefin Labels (product code: MWPO) are made with matt white polyolefin and a marine adhesive. All of these labels can be printed with a laser printer OR can be handwritten; our MWPE and MWPO labels can also be printed with an inkjet printer although this will not create waterproof print as inkjet inks tend to be water-based and so will run or smudge if the print gets wet. These waterproof labels are ideal for a wide range of applications that need tough and durable labels – especially any indoor or outdoor applications that may involve exposure to or immersion in water.

VOID ADHESIVE
This adhesive is used to make security labels in the form of tamper evident labels that leave behind the word “VOID” when a label is removed from an item. There are a variety of void adhesives, which provide visual evidence of tampering in this way – some will leave behind the word “VOID” (or another message) on the labelled item only, on the label itself only, or the adhesive layer will split to leave the message on both the labelled item and the label itself (this is how our VOID labels works).

Our VOID Labels (product code: SVP) are silver polyester labels with a VOID adhesive and can be printed using a laser printer (or handwritten). These labels are ideal for use as security labels on high value items, security seals on packaging or document folders, or as warranty labels on high or added value goods. They improve the security of these items by acting as a visual deterrent against tampering and by providing visual evidence that an item has, in fact, been tampered with or not.

DEEP FREEZE ADHESIVE
As the name suggests, this adhesive was designed to produce a permanent adhesive bond even when the labelled item is exposed to deep freeze conditions. Standard adhesives will usually struggle to produce and/or sustain an adhesive bond in extremely low temperatures, which makes a deep freeze adhesive an ideal alternative for any label application that involves exposure to or storage in colder temperatures.

Our Freezer Labels (product code: DF) are paper labels with a deep freeze adhesive and can be printed using a laser printer OR they can be handwritten (we do not recommend printing these labels with an inkjet printer as inkjet inks tend to be water-based, which means that your print will run or smudge when it comes into contact with condensation). These labels are ideal for any label application that involves deep freeze conditions, including food and drink labels or identification labels on research and/or medical samples. The labels can be applied onto items that are already frozen or that will be frozen at a later date and will maintain a good adhesive bond at temperatures between -40°C to +60°C.

WATER WASH OFF ADHESIVE
This adhesive provides a brilliant solution to the problem of labelling items safely and securely (as with a permanent adhesive) before removing the labels without damaging the items (as with a removable adhesive) so that they can be reused (and relabelled). Water wash off adhesives create a strong adhesive bond that breaks down when exposed to water; this means that a label will remain firmly in place while needed BUT will remove cleanly and easily when the labelled item is washed.

Our Water Wash Off Labels (product code: WW) are paper labels with a water wash off adhesive and can be printed using an inkjet printer or a laser printer OR they can be handwritten. These labels are ideal for use on reusable containers and particularly those used in the food and drink industry (either to hold ingredients or as product containers, such as jars and bottles) – the contents of a container can be safely and clearly identified before the label is washed away when the container is cleaned before being reused.

SUPER REMOVABLE ADHESIVE
Also known as a “glass removable” adhesive, this removable adhesive was developed specifically for use on delicate surfaces – such as glass and paper – which are likely to be damaged when a label is removed. The adhesive makes use of modern manufacturing methods and materials to create a light adhesive bond that will gently hold a label in place while it is needed before allowing that label to be removed without doing any damage in the process.

Our Super Removable Labels (product code: GREM) are paper labels with a super removable adhesive and can be printed using an inkjet printer or a laser printer OR they can be handwritten. These labels are ideal for temporarily labelling delicate items (especially those made of glass or paper) and are brilliant product labels that can be used to display pricing information on (gift) items such as vases and books.

You can view a full list of all of the different adhesives that are used to make our self-adhesive labels on our All Adhesives page; this page gives a brief description of each adhesive, along with information about the product range that it is used to make, and a link to the range page for that particular product, so you can find out more about or place an order for those particular labels.

Label Planet’s Top Tips For Choosing The Right Label Size

Wednesday, August 16th, 2017

When it comes to producing the perfect label, size is (sometimes) everything – getting the right label size can go a long way towards making it much easier to create a clean cut label design that enhances the item that you need to label, whether you’re looking for a practical and professional finish or something that simply looks the part.

There are a few practical considerations to bear in mind when it comes to picking the perfect label size:

WHAT SIZE (& SHAPE) IS THE SURFACE YOU ARE LABELLING?
Obviously, you cannot choose a label size that is BIGGER than the item or surface that you want to label – so first you need to measure the surface of your item to determine the largest size that you could use within the available space.

Next you need to consider if there are any other limitations that would reduce the label size that you could use, including any aesthetic or practical reasons why a larger label size might not be the way to go. For example, if you are labelling products, you may have invested in specially designed or branded packaging, which would be needlessly covered up if you use too large a label. In this case, you want to make sure that the label size is a neat and compact one that won’t detract from the overall appearance of your products. Likewise, if you are labelling a surface that is in any way shaped or curved (e.g. bottles and jars), you may find that you cannot apply a label to a shaped portion of the surface, which will limit the space you have available to you for adding a label.

HOW MUCH SPACE DO YOU NEED FOR YOUR INFORMATION/DESIGN?
You also need to consider how much stuff you want to add to your label(s); if you’ve got a lot of important information to add OR you’ve got a large and intricate design to recreate, then you need to make sure that the label size you choose is large enough to accommodate that design – without forcing you to reduce your content to a smaller size just so it will fit (which will most likely either make your text illegible or make your design look cramped and badly planned.

We highly recommend taking a moment to type up the information that you’re planning to add to your labels or creating a quick rough sketch of the design you want to create to give yourself a better idea of how much room you need on your labels. If you find that your information is too cramped or busy looking, you can always play around with using multiple labels instead of a single label so that you can arrange your text neatly and legibly across different areas on your item.

WHAT LABEL SIZES ARE AVAILABLE (& WITHIN YOUR BUDGET)?
Unless you are planning to have bespoke labels made for you, the label size you choose may end up being determined for you by the label sizes that are available. Many companies who supply labels but do not manufacture labels will offer a limited number of label sizes to their customers; these “standard sizes” are created by dividing an A4 sheet into the required number of labels with as little waste around and between the labels as possible. These sizes are highly cost-effective and tend to be manufactured in high volume batches on a frequent basis.

At Label Planet, we supply standard sizes because they offer our customers a good choice of label sizes, are suitable for a wide range of label applications, are generally easy to print accurately and efficiently, allow us to provide high quality labels to our customers at good value, and are readily available allowing us to store a wide range of label products for same day despatch from stock.

While we aim to stock the best possible range of label products, some options are not carried as stocked items, which means that they will only be available to order in bulk boxes of 500 sheets. If this quantity exceeds your needs (and/or your budget), it may be worth compromising slightly on the label size you choose to find an alternative that is available in the material or adhesive you want as a stocked item.

So, when it comes to picking the perfect label size, our top tip has to be “a little preparation goes a long way”; take a bit of time to measure up how much space you have and how much space you need to give you a general idea of what label size(s) will work for you. Then, you can head on over to our website to see if we supply that particular label size or if we have a size that is close enough to fit your requirements.

We list all of our label sizes on our “Search By Width” and “Search By Height” pages; if you find a size that you think will work, you can then use our Label Finder or visit the template information page for that size (via our Template Home page or by clicking on the “Label Templates And Printing Information” link on each product page) to view all of the different material and adhesive options.

FAQ – How Do I Find Out More About Your Label Materials?

Wednesday, August 9th, 2017

When it comes to picking the perfect labels for your labelling project, you might need to know a bit more about the materials used to make your labels. For example, you might want to know more about the type of adhesive used, you might want to check the thickness of a particular label (to make sure that your printer is capable of processing your label sheets), or you might want to know if a particular material is suitable for your label application.

If this is the case, there are TWO really easy ways to find out more about the Label Planet labels you are interested in.

Firstly, you can visit our website. Each label product that we supply has its own dedicated range page, which provides the following information:

  • Key Facts: this lists the label material, printer compatibility, label adhesive, and waterproof status of the labels in question.
  • Product Information: this gives a brief description about the labels, including information about the material and adhesive along with some of the most popular uses for that particular type of label.
  • Common Uses: a short list of applications for which the label range is commonly used or particularly well-suited.
  • Material Specification Sheet: this sheet contains more detailed information about the material and adhesive used to make each label range – along with information about the weight and thickness of each material.

Secondly, if you don’t find the answer to your particular question or query on the range page of the labels you are interested in, you can always in get in touch with our Customer Service Team who will be more than happy to help. You can give us a call or send us an email – or you can even pop a note in the post – and no question is too big or too small (or too silly!).

Visit our LIST OF ALL MATERIALS page to find links to all of the range pages for our labels or visit our CONTACT US page to find out all of the ways you can get in touch with.

Top Tips For Storing Labels In Hot Weather

Wednesday, July 12th, 2017

With summer underway and some good weather – hopefully – on hand, we thought we’d put together a few top tips for storing your labels safely during the summer months (or whenever the Great British Weather decides to behave itself).

All of our labels are self-adhesive labels, which means they are tacky (sticky) at “normal” room temperatures – and so only require light pressure from a finger or hand to create a strong adhesive bond upon contact with a surface.

This does mean that the quality of the adhesive bond can be influenced by the temperature – during storage, application, and the duration of the label application. High temperatures tend to speed up the process of adhesion (causing the adhesive to set more quickly) and low temperatures tend to slow down or even prevent the adhesive process altogether. This means that if your labels get too hot or too cold, the quality of the adhesive bond that they can maintain will deteriorate.

High temperatures can also cause adhesive bleed; this is when the adhesive starts to spread out from the adhesive layer, where it can penetrate into the other layers of the labels themselves (and possibly damage these labels, for example by causing discolouration of the face material) or emerge from around the edges of the labels. This can cause problems when you try to print your label sheets as they may not feed correctly, which can cause print misalignment or may lead to your sheets getting jammed in your printer.

Therefore we recommend following these simple steps to store your self-adhesive labels safely so they retain their original quality for when you need to use them next:

  • Keep your labels in their original plastic packaging
  • Store your labels away from direct sunlight
  • Make sure the room temperature doesn’t exceed 25 degrees (and avoid spaces with fluctuating temperatures if possible)
  • Never store unused labels in the printer tray or next to the printer (or any other electrical devices) as the printer may get hot during usage.

Hopefully there is still some good weather to come over the summer months (and maybe even beyond) but – with these top tips – you can rest assured that your labels will be ready and waiting for you the next time you need to print some labels.

You can find more of our TOP TIPS in our Help Section, along with advice on how to design and print your own self-adhesive labels.

FAQs – Which Label Adhesive Should I Choose?

Wednesday, June 28th, 2017

Visitors to our website may have noticed that we offer a range of label adhesives to suit a range of label applications; while this should provide our customers with the perfect label for their unique requirements, it can be a bit tricky to make sure you’ve chosen the right one – particularly if you don’t really know very much about adhesives.

With this in mind, we’ve put together a flowchart to help guide you in the right direction when it comes to choosing the right adhesive for you. Simply follow the arrows and answer TWO easy questions to find out what kind of label adhesive is best suited to your needs.

The one exception to the first question is short term label applications that involve temporarily applying labels onto clothing (e.g. name badges worn for a networking event). In this case, we would recommend using a standard permanent adhesive; fabrics have very unusual surfaces that removable adhesives will struggle to bond with properly, while permanent adhesives will have enough strength to hold your labels in place but won’t form a solid and even bond – allowing them to be safely removed from clothing.

Remember, if you’re still not sure, you can always Request A Sample to try a few different products for yourself to make absolutely sure that they’ll do the job that you need them to do. Simply fill in our online Sample Request Form or get in touch with our Customer Service Team.

You can find out more about all of our label adhesives (and place an order for the ones you need) by visiting our LIST OF LABEL ADHESIVES page.

Make Sure Your Stickers Stick By Choosing A Permanent Adhesive

Wednesday, May 31st, 2017

At Label Planet, we supply a wide range of labels, which can broadly be divided into two categories: Permanent Labels and Removable Labels – which, you will undoubtedly not be surprised to learn, are made with permanent adhesives and removable adhesives respectively. This post takes a closer look at the labels that fall into the first category (Permanent Labels) and the adhesives used to make them stick.

PERMANENT ADHESIVES
Generally speaking, a permanent adhesive is any adhesive that is designed to create a strong adhesive bond that is difficult to break. This does NOT mean that permanent adhesives are 100% permanent; any label held in place with a permanent adhesive can be removed if an individual is determined enough to do so – permanent adhesives are simply designed to make the removal of a label as difficult as possible (which means that they will usually leave behind adhesive residue and may damage the surface that they were applied to when they are removed).

Permanent adhesives typically offer good initial tack (this is the strength of the adhesive bond that is created at the moment an adhesive is applied to a surface) and good ultimate tack (this is the strength of the adhesive bond that is formed once the adhesive has completely strengthened and set).

SELF-ADHESIVE PERMANENT ADHESIVES
At Label Planet, all of our labels are “self-adhesive”/“pressure sensitive” labels (made with self-adhesive or pressure sensitive adhesives); this simply means that these labels require only the pressure of a finger or hand to adhere to a surface. Other adhesives may require the presence of another substance or specific conditions to form an adhesive bond (e.g. water sensitive adhesives require the presence of water to initiate a chemical reaction that leads to the formation of an adhesive bond, while holt melt adhesives must be melted and allowed to cool back into a solid to create an adhesive bond). Pressure sensitive adhesives, however, are tacky (sticky) in their dry form at room temperature and are applied using only the pressure of a finger or hand.

DIFFERENT STRENGTHS OF SELF-ADHESIVE PERMANENT ADHESIVES
Permanent adhesives are available in a range of adhesive strengths; standard permanent adhesives, for example, will be able to form a good adhesive bond between a general range of surface types and materials, while stronger permanent adhesives (sometimes called High Tack Adhesives) will be able to form a strong adhesive bond between a wide range of surface types and materials – including curved surfaces and unusual materials such as wood, plastics, and metals.

Permanent adhesives may also be designed to provide better adhesive strength under more challenging or unusual environmental conditions, such as Marine Adhesives (designed to create a permanent adhesive bond that can survive exposure to or immersion in water) and Freezer Adhesives (designed to create a permanent adhesive bond that can survive in freezing conditions).
