Here’s To The Arrival Of Autumn; A Selection Of Seasonal Self Adhesive Labels From Label Planet

Wednesday, September 26th, 2018

The Autumn Equinox took place over the weekend – traditionally heralding the arrival of autumn. To celebrate, we’ve put together a selection of suitably seasonal self adhesive labels.

Autumn Self Adhesive Labels – Coloured Labels

Coloured labels are perfect all year round but we’ve got plenty of shades that are perfectly seasonal.

Our pastel shades are ideal for adding a subtle bloom of colour and our “warm” shades are ideal for creating an autumnal feel – especially our crimson red labels, orange-red labels, and our yellow labels.

These coloured labels are suitable for use with inkjet and laser printers or for handwriting.

For a wonderfully natural finish and a perfect touch of the homemade, we highly recommend our brown Kraft paper labels. Made with Kraft paper, these self adhesive labels retain the natural colouring of the pulp used to make the paper. Our Kraft paper labels have a ribbed finish, which adds a brilliantly subtle touch of pattern and texture.

Our Kraft paper labels are suitable for use with inkjet and laser printers or for handwriting.

If you’re looking for something a bit bolder, why not try our fluorescent labels. Our magenta labels, red labels, and yellow labels are especially seasonal and add a burst of colour to any project.

Our fluorescent labels are suitable for use with laser printers or for handwriting.

Autumn Self Adhesive Labels – Gold Labels & Silver Labels

For a subtle touch of shimmer and shine and a luxurious appearance, try our metallic paper labels. Our gold labels and silver labels have a super smooth satin finish and are a brilliantly decorative addition to any items that are to be used in a special event or promotional offer.

Our gold labels and silver labels are suitable for use with laser printers or for handwriting.

Autumn Self Adhesive Labels – Waterproof Labels

As we shift seasons, the great British weather will inevitably kick in, which means that you might be in need of waterproof labels. Whether you need self adhesive labels that will survive the great outdoors (or the slightly soggy indoors), we have a wide range of waterproof labels that are tough and durable enough to rise to the challenge. Our waterproof labels include options for transparent labels, white labels, silver labels, gloss labels, matt labels, permanent labels, and removable labels.

If you need self adhesive labels that are truly outdoor proof, we highly recommend our marine labels; these are made with a special marine adhesive, which has been tested specifically for use in marine conditions.

Most of our waterproof labels need to be printed with a laser printer. This is because laser printers use heat and pressure to bond a dry powder (toner) into place – creating waterproof print. Inkjet printers tend to use water-based inks, which will run and/or smudge when your print gets wet. The exception is our MWPP material; this uses a special top coating to form a protective layer over your print.

Autumn Self Adhesive Labels – Bottle Labels & Jar Labels & Food Labels

If you’re planning on making some tasty treats to enjoy as the nights draw in, you might be in need of some bottle labels, jar labels, or food labels for a variety of containers. You can use pretty much any of our self adhesive labels for this purpose but two are especially useful.

Our freezer labels are the best choice if you are making food stuffs that will need to be stored in the freezer. These paper labels have an adhesive designed specifically to form and sustain adhesive bonds in deep freeze conditions.

Likewise, our water wash off labels are an ideal choice for labelling reusable containers. These sticky labels have a special adhesive; it forms a permanent adhesive bond (which means your sticky labels will stay firmly stuck) that breaks down when exposed to water (which means your sticky labels will peel away cleanly without damaging your containers – simply by giving them a good old wash).

Our freezer labels are suitable for use with laser printers or for handwriting. Laser printers produce waterproof print that will stay in place even if condensation gets on your self adhesive labels. Inkjet printers tend to use water-based inks that will run and/or smudge when wet.

Our water wash off labels are suitable for use with inkjet or laser printers and can also be handwritten.

Need Supremely Stylish Sticky Labels For Your Digital Gear? Why Not Try Our Silver Waterproof Labels!

Wednesday, September 12th, 2018

This week, we’re taking a closer look at our silver waterproof labels, which are the perfect way to label up all kinds of digital gear and high value products.

Label Planet Labels Logo

Silver Waterproof Labels – The Material & Adhesive

Our SMP range of silver waterproof labels are made with a silver polyester film and a permanent adhesive.

The polyester is a tough and durable material that offers some flexbility. It is, however, best suited to flat surfaces. It has a silver colour in a matt finish, which creates a high-quality professional appearance for any labelling application. The standard permanent adhesive creates good adhesive bonds with a range of materials and surface types.

Silver Waterproof Labels – The Benefits & Suitable Applications

The materials used to create our silver waterproof labels offer a wide range of beneficial properties and characteristics. SMP is tough and durable, which is perfect for creating long life asset and/or tracking labels. They are also decorative and professional in finish, offering a high quality appearance that draws attention to important information. These silver labels are also fully waterproof. You can use them for any applications involving exposure to water.

Common uses for SMP include:

  • Sticky labels for appliances and electronics: SMP is extremely popular for use on high value goods – especially digital gear. These sticky labels display (and draw attention to) vital information such as health and safety warnings, instructions for use, product information/specifications, servicing dates and results, and contact details for the relevant manufacturer, distributor, or servicing company. The waterproof material and strong adhesive mean these sticky labels stay put for the long term – in various environments and conditions. SMP is also suitable for applications involving exposure to fluctuating or extreme temperatures (hot or cold), which is often an issue for appliances and electronics.
  • Product labels and packaging labels: silver labels create decorative, professional product labels and packaging labels. The colour highlights important information, while their durability means these sticky labels remain in place for the life of each labelled product. They make ideal packaging seals and tracking labels on items that will be stored for long periods and/or frequently transported. You can use silver waterproof labels for items designed for outdoor use. They’re also fine for indoor applications that involve exposure to water – including kitchen and bathroom products.
  • Marketing labels and promotional labels: the high quality finish of these silver labels also makes them a popular choice for marketing and promotional purposes.

Silver Waterproof Labels – The Printing Process

As SMP is a more specialised material, it does require some extra care when printing. SMP is suitable for use with laser printers only – so you cannot use an inkjet printer. We also recommend using a standard paper print setting – rather than “Labels”/“Heavy Paper” settings usually recommended for self adhesive labels.

This is because the polyester material is metallised. It has been coated with a thin layer of metal. Laser printers use heat and pressure to bond toner onto the surface of the print media. When you print SMP, its metallised layer reflects the heat from the fuser unit. This increases the overall temperature within the printer, which can prevent the toner from bonding properly to your sticky labels. It can also cause your sheets to curl up, which can result in your sticky labels jamming in your printer.

Ideally, you should test print a couple of sheets using the “Paper” setting(s) provided by your printer. This should allow you to find an option that provides the optimal amount of heat to print your sticky labels. You should also consult your printer’s manual and/or the manufacturer’s website. They may have provided specific advice for printing self adhesive labels – and especially more specialised materials – like metallised polyester.

Get Stuck Into The Great Outdoors With Waterproof Labels From Label Planet

Wednesday, July 11th, 2018

Label Planet Labels Logo

If you’re looking for self adhesive labels you can use in the great outdoors, why not try our waterproof labels. They’re ideal for traditional British summers (with plenty of rain) as well as not-so-traditional summers like this one!

Why Are Waterproof Labels Perfect For Outdoor Applications?

The main benefit of using waterproof labels for outdoor applications is because they offer protection against water and similar substances. This is especially useful in typical British summers, which tend to involve a lot of inconvenient rain.

Given that this year, we’ve experienced some of the hottest (and driest) weather on record, we thought it was time to acknowledge some of the other benefits of using waterproof labels.

Waterproof labels are made using synthetic materials such as plastics. These materials offer a wide range of characteristics and properties that make them highly versatile and well-suited to more challenging environments.

For example, they tend to be a lot more durable and long lasting than other materials, especially paper labels. They also tend to be stronger and more stable, which is particularly useful outside where environmental factors are likely to change and fluctuate over time. Other materials are more likely to deteriorate quickly in such conditions, making sticky labels illegible or causing their adhesive bond to fail (so they fall off).

Synthetic materials also tend to offer greater resistance to damage from environmental factors such as moisture, solvents, oils, chemicals, oxidation, ionising radiation, abrasion, extreme and/or fluctuating temperatures, and light (including UV light).

What Kinds Of Waterproof Labels Are Available From Label Planet?

We supply a range of waterproof labels to help you find the perfect finish for your project. We have options for laser labels, inkjet labels, matt labels, gloss labels, white labels, silver labels, transparent labels, permanent labels, and removable labels.

RANGE FINISH COLOUR MATERIAL ADHESIVE PRINTER
MTP Matt Transparent Polyester Permanent Laser
GTP Gloss Transparent Polyester Permanent Laser
GTR Gloss Transparent Polyester Removable Laser
GCP Gloss Transparent Polyester Permanent Inkjet *
SMP Matt Silver Polyester Permanent Laser
GWP Gloss White Polyester Permanent Laser
MWP Matt White Polyester Marine Permanent Laser
MWR Matt White Polyester Removable Laser
MWPE Matt (Off) White Polyethylene Marine Permanent Laser & Inkjet
MWPO Matt White Polyolefin Marine Permanent Laser & Inkjet

Three of our waterproof labels have a marine permanent adhesive. This adhesive has met the requirements of the BS5609 part 2 standard for use in marine (outdoor conditions). This internationally recognised standard requires products to undergo a series of tests, including submersion in seawater for three months.

Designed for labelling chemical drums that are to be shipped overseas (where contents must be identifiable even if the drums fall overboard), these are some of our toughest self adhesive labels – making them perfect for outdoor applications.

* Please note that our GCP labels are waterproof. However, if you print them with standard water-based inkjet inks, your print will not be waterproof and will run or smudge when wet.

How Do You Print Waterproof Labels So They Have Waterproof Print?

All of our waterproof labels are – surprisingly – waterproof labels. Or, in other words, all of the materials used to make these sticky labels are waterproof. If you want PRINTED waterproof labels, however, it’s not always so straightforward.

Our waterproof laser labels are perfect for creating printed waterproof labels. Laser printers use a dry printing process (involving heat and pressure) to bond a dry powder (called toner) onto your sticky labels, which results in waterproof print.

Waterproof inkjet labels are a little more tricky. Standard inkjet inks are water-based and will run or smudge when wet. To create waterproof inkjet labels you either have to:

  1. Purchase waterproof inks that are not water-based.
  2. Add a protective layer over your print. For example, you could apply a transparent label over your print OR by use a sealant spray.

This is why the majority of our waterproof labels are laser labels. HOWEVER…

NEW WATERPROOF LABELS COMING SOON

…We will soon be introducing a brand new range called MWPP. These are waterproof labels for use with inkjet printers. These inkjet labels are made from polypropylene and a special top coating, which allows your printing inks to dry quickly and efficiently onto your labels AND acts as a protective (and waterproof) barrier over your print.

We have some stock available to supply as samples. Simply get in touch with our Customer Service Team and request a sample of MWPP.

Get All Your Summer Treats Labelled With Bottle Labels And Jar Labels From Label Planet

Wednesday, June 27th, 2018

Whether you’re selling food and drink as a business or simply making some home-made treats for friends and family, we’ve got the perfect sticky labels for your bottles and jars.

We’ve got bottle labels and jar labels in all shapes and sizes with material and adhesive options to suit all sorts of food and drink labelling applications.

BOTTLE LABELS AND JAR LABELS – WATERPROOF LABELS

You might be looking for bottle labels and jar labels that will remain firmly in place – print and all – even if they get a bit wet. In this case, we would recommend looking at our waterproof labels. These are all made with waterproof materials. Your sticky labels will stay stuck even if you submerge your bottles and jars in water. To ensure that the print remains in place, you will need to use a laser printer. Laser printers use a dry printing process to bond a dry powder (toner) onto your sticky labels. This results in waterproof print. Inkjet printers tend to use water-based inks, which run or smudge when wet.

Our waterproof labels are more expensive than paper labels. If you’re looking for a more budget-friendly option, why not try our Splashproof Labels. These are paper labels with a gloss or semi-gloss coating, which creates a light layer of protection against moisture. You can’t submerge these sticky labels in water as they are, after all, still paper labels. If lightly splashed with water, you can wipe them clean and dry.

Our range of waterproof labels includes options for white labels or transparent labels, permanent labels or removable labels, and matt labels or gloss labels – so you can find an option that suits your application and the overall style you want to create on your bottles and jars.

BOTTLE LABELS AND JAR LABELS – REMOVABLE LABELS

If you want sticky labels that you can remove without damaging your containers, you need removable labels.

We have a range of sticky labels made with removable adhesives. Removable adhesives create strong adhesive bonds that remove cleanly from a surface in one piece. So no more sticky messes of adhesive residue. We have removable paper labels, as well as removable transparent labels, and removable white waterproof labels.

Alternatively, you may want to try our Water Wash Off Labels. These paper labels are made with a special permanent adhesive. This adhesive creates strong adhesive bonds that break down when you wash labelled items (ideally in warm soapy water). Wash off adhesives let you safely and securely label containers without worrying about the sticky labels falling off too soon OR about them damaging your containers when you try to remove each label.

Our removable labels can be handwritten or printed using a standard desktop printer. If you choose removable transparent labels or removable white waterproof labels, you need to use a laser printer.

BOTTLE LABELS AND JAR LABELS – FREEZER LABELS

You might be labelling bottles and jars that contain foodstuff that need to be stored in a freezer. Standard adhesives will often fail in freezing conditions. We supply a range of freezer labels, which are made with a special deep freeze adhesive. Designed for deep freeze conditions, this adhesive can form and sustain successful adhesive bonds in temperatures as low as -40°C.

Our freezer labels are made with standard matt white paper and may be handwritten or printed with a laser printer.

BOTTLE LABELS AND JAR LABELS – TRANSPARENT LABELS

Finally, if you’re looking for sticky labels to match transparent bottles and jars, we have a variety of transparent labels. Using transparent labels on transparent items can create a “floating print” effect or make it seem as though your printed design is actually part of your containers.

Our range of transparent labels includes options for permanent labels and removable labels, as well as the choice between matt labels and gloss labels. You must double check if you have a laser printer or an inkjet printer available. Most of our transparent labels are laser labels and can only be printed with a laser printer.

MWP vs MWPE vs MWPO – Which Waterproof Labels Will Win?

Wednesday, May 16th, 2018

If you’ve been searching for waterproof labels, you may have noticed that we supply three marine labels that are very similar. Our polyester labels (MWP), polyethylene labels (MWPE), and polyolefin labels (MWPO) ARE very similar. They all have a matt white finish, are all waterproof labels, and all have a marine standard permanent adhesive. So how do you know which waterproof label is the right one for you?

The answer lies in your label application. Each material has its own properties and characteristics that are better suited to certain applications compared to the others. It just depends on what you need your waterproof labels to be able to do…

Waterproof Labels That Will Stay Stuck

While all three have a marine standard adhesive, the different materials cause slight variations in the level of tack (stick). This is most noticeable when labelling more unusual materials and surface types.

For example, if you apply all three onto a completely flat, clean metal surface you would see very little difference. On rough materials or curved surfaces, the polyethylene would cope the best with any surface variations. The polyolefin would be next best, followed by the polyester.

If your label application involves a curved surface or unusual materials (such as fabrics or building materials) you may wish to choose polyethylene.

Waterproof Labels That Will Bend & Stretch

One of the most notable differences between these three materials is how well they bend and stretch. Polyester is a rigid material and will not stretch at all. Polyolefin offers better flexibility and stretch, while polyethylene is the most flexible and stretchy material of the three.

The material you choose depends on whether you need waterproof labels that ARE flexible or ARE NOT flexible. For example, to label curved surfaces you need waterproof labels that will conform to the shape of your items. If you apply a rigid label material to a curved surface, one of two things will happen:

  • Your sticky labels won’t conform to the shape of your items. You may find areas where your labels aren’t stuck to the item. Alternatively, there won’t be sufficient contact to allow a successful adhesive bond to form at all and your waterproof labels will fall off immediately.
  • You will be able to temporarily force your sticky labels to conform to the correct shape BUT the memory of the material will cause them to return to their original flat state – overcoming the strength of the adhesive bond and resulting in your waterproof labels slowly peeling away from the surface.

Alternatively, you may be looking for waterproof labels that won’t tear or deform easily, even when used as long life tracking labels on items that are regularly moved or handled a lot. In this case, you will need waterproof labels that offer good resistance to tearing and stretching.

If your label application involves curved surfaces you may wish to choose polyethylene (as the most flexible option), while polyester is the best bet if you need tough and durable waterproof labels that will resist the wear and tear of long term applications.

Waterproof Labels That Will Print Out Perfectly

While all three printer labels are suitable for use with standard desktop printers, some are easier to print than others.

First you need to consider whether you have an inkjet printer or a laser printer. MWPE and MWPO are laser labels and inkjet labels; they can be printed with a laser printer or an inkjet printer. MWP are laser labels and can ONLY be printed with a laser printer.

Next you need to take into consideration the specification of your printer. Waterproof labels are thicker than standard paper labels and so you need to check that your printer has a media bypass tray (a secondary tray designed specifically for thicker materials) as well as the weight of materials that your printer will accept. If your printer cannot handle heavier materials, you will need to choose a thinner material to ensure that you can print your waterproof labels.

Polyethylene is a VERY thick material and requires careful handling; if your printer is not designed to handle very thick materials, you may find that you struggle to produce a consistent print quality on your waterproof labels (if you manage to print them at all). Polyester, however, is much thinner making it a much easier and more reliable material to print. Polyolefin is a thicker material BUT not as thick as polyethylene, which makes it a perfect compromise between MWP and MWPE.

Waterproof Labels That Will Fit Into Your Budget

If you’re ordering fewer than 500 sheets there is absolutely no difference between the three options. If you’re looking to buy in bulk (and on a budget) there is a difference in cost; MWP is the most expensive option, followed by MWPE, and then MWPO.

Celebrate The Arrival Of Spring With Suitably Seasonal Sticky Labels From Label Planet

Wednesday, March 21st, 2018

We’re Celebrating Spring With Sticky Labels That Are Perfect For The Season Of Spring!

Yesterday saw the occurrence of this year’s Spring Equinox; marking one of the two moments each year when the sun is directly above the equator (meaning night and day are – roughly – equal in length). The Spring Equinox has traditionally been used as a marker of the beginning of Spring – although the weather doesn’t always agree!

With this in mind, we thought we’d put together our top three sticky labels that are well-suited to the seasonal changes that happen with the arrival of Spring.

Add A Bloom Of Colour With Coloured Labels / Fluorescent Labels / Metallic Paper Labels / Kraft Labels

To brighten up any labelling project, choose one of our coloured labels to add a bloom (or burst) of colour. We have a variety of colourful options to choose from including:

Pastel Coloured Labels – suitable for use with inkjet and laser printers or for handwriting, these coloured labels are perfect for adding a subtle bloom of colour to any project and you can choose between seven different shades!

Fluorescent Labels – suitable for laser printers or for handwriting, these paper labels are brilliant if you prefer an eye-catching burst of colour to blow away the cobwebs of winter – choose between five neon colours to bright up your day!

Gold Labels / Silver Labels – suitable for laser printers or for handwriting, metallic paper labels offer a luxurious touch of shimmer and shine if you’re looking to step into spring with a hint of glamour.

Brown Kraft Labels – suitable for laser printers and inkjet printers or for handwriting, our Kraft labels have a ribbed finish, which adds a subtle touch of pattern and texture – ideal for any projects that need to have a natural, homemade feel.

Introduce A Subtle Shimmer Of Sunlight With Gloss Labels / Semi-Gloss Labels

If you simply can’t wait for summer, why not add a bit more brightness to your world with our gloss labels and semi-gloss labels. Made with high quality coatings, these sticky labels have a gloss (or semi-gloss) finish, which means that they reflect light REALLY efficiently, creating a bright and shiny appearance.

We supply a range of self adhesive labels with a gloss finish, including gloss paper labels, gloss waterproof labels, gloss transparent labels, and our semi-gloss paper labels – which offer a subtle alternative to a full gloss finish.

Avoid The Problems Of Spring Showers With Waterproof Labels / Splashproof Labels

Obviously, Spring has a tendency to bring with it a seasonal shower or two (or three or four or more), which means that you might be in need of sticky labels that can put up with the Great British Weather.

This is where our waterproof labels / splashproof labels come in; our waterproof labels are made with materials that can survive exposure to or even total submersion in water – especially our three “marine labels”, which are made with a special adhesive specifically designed for use in marine environments. Waterproof labels can be used for both indoor and outdoor applications where there’s a chance of a spring shower!

For a more budget friendly option, you could also try one of our splashproof options; these are paper labels with an additional coating that provides a thin layer of protection against minor exposure to water – meaning you can wipe your sticky labels clean and dry if they are lightly splashed with water. As paper labels, however, they are NOT a fully waterproof solution and will be damaged by prolonged or major exposure to water.

To produce fully waterproof labels OR splashproof labels, you will need to print your sticky labels using a laser printer; laser printers use a dry printing process to bond toner onto a surface (producing waterproof print), while inkjet printers tend to use water-based inks that will run or smudge if they get wet.

Super Useful Reasons To Choose Splendid Synthetic Labels

Wednesday, January 17th, 2018

If you’ve ever printed your own blank labels (or simply used sticky labels before), you probably used paper labels – which are extremely versatile sticky labels in their own right.

However, this week we’re celebrating synthetic labels – which have a huge range of advantages, especially when you need self adhesive labels that can offer just a little bit extra…

SYNTHETIC LABELS

These are self-adhesive labels made with a synthetic (man-made) face material; the most popular synthetics for use as adhesive labels are polyester, polyethylene, polyolefin, and vinyl. Each of these materials has a broad range of useful properties, including durability and flexibility, and they are all relatively easy and cost effective to manufacture.

WATERPROOF LABELS

Synthetic labels are waterproof, which is ideal if you need self adhesive labels that will survive outdoors OR indoors where they might come into contact with water (or other liquids). To create waterproof labels, you need a laser printer; this is because laser printers use a dry printing process (applying heat and pressure) to bond toner onto a surface – creating waterproof print.

Inkjet printers CAN produce waterproof print BUT ONLY if you use a specialist inkjet printer and specialist inkjet inks. Standard desktop inkjet printers cannot process specialist inks and tend to use water-based inks, which run and/or smudge if they get wet – or get handled a lot.

All of our synthetic labels are waterproof and THREE of our waterproof labels (MWP, MWPE, and MWPO) also qualify as marine labels – i.e. they can be used in marine conditions – because they are made with synthetic face materials AND a marine standard adhesive. These self adhesive labels have to pass extremely strenuous tests (including submersion in sea water at mid-tide for three months) to achieve the marine standard – which is generally accepted to also be a marker of sticky labels that are extremely tough and durable.

TRANSPARENT LABELS

Synthetic materials are also used to make transparent labels; ideal if you want to create window stickers or need to add extra information or design work onto a pre-printed surface.

They’re perfect product labels or retail labels when you need to add extra information onto pre-printed product packaging AND perfect address labels for envelopes or packaging that have been chosen for a special event (such as wedding invitations or parcels being sent as gift items with special wrappings).

We supply options for transparent matt labels, transparent gloss labels, transparent permanent labels, transparent removable labels, transparent laser labels, and transparent inkjet labels. While all of our transparent labels are not “frosted” or “translucent”, neither are they “glass clear” – tair bubbles and dust may be trapped by the adhesive during the application of a label, which prevents them having a truly 100% transparent finish. You can improve the overall finish by taking extra care during the application; start with one edge and then smooth the label down from that side to the other, applying firm pressure to help avoid the formation of bubbles.

LONG LIFE TRACKING LABELS

While paper labels are easily torn or marked over time, synthetic labels are tough and durable, which makes them ideal for use as long life tracking labels – especially on items that need to be shipped long distance or that will spend long periods of time moving in and out of storage facilities. Synthetic labels are difficult to tear and, while they may get marked over time, they can be wiped clean and dry because they are waterproof.

If you need long lasting address or shipping labels OR asset I.D. labels to keep track of high value stock or company equipment, synthetic labels are a quick and easy way to safely and securely label these items with self adhesive labels that will last for the life time of those items.

SECURITY LABELS

Finally, synthetic labels can be used to create security labels; these are self adhesive labels that are designed to provide visual evidence of tampering, which improves the security of high value items by providing a visual deterrent against theft or tampering.

At Label Planet, we supply two different kinds of security labels; our Tamper Evident Vinyl Labels fragment into tiny pieces (preventing the whole label from being removed), while our Silver Void Labels have an adhesive layer that splits to leave behind the message “VOID” when a label is removed from an item.

Buy SYNTHETIC LABELS from Label Planet

Synthetic labels are always going to be a more expensive option because of the specialised materials involved BUT they can offer properties that paper labels simply cannot provide AND they’re ideal if you need self adhesive labels that can survive in more extreme conditions and environments.

To view all of the different synthetic labels available from Label Planet, visit our LIST OF ALL MATERIALS page and scroll down to the middle section – entitled “Waterproof Labels in Polyester, Polyethylene, and Polyolefin”. This table shows basic information about each product range (including a material description, adhesive type, waterproof status, and printer compatibility); to find out more about any of our synthetic labels, simply click on the “View Products” link to read detailed product information and view the label sizes available – to buy, click on the label size you want to order and select the quantity you need.

Label Planet’s Top Autumn Labels For Autumnal Applications

Wednesday, September 20th, 2017

On Friday, the Autumn Equinox takes place, which traditionally marks the change from summer to autumn, so we thought we’d take a look at a few of our product ranges that are well suited to all sorts of autumnal applications.

Coloured Labels & Kraft Labels
With the nights drawing in and the weather turning (even more) wintery, it’s the perfect time to add a bit of colour to your label applications; we’ve got seven pastel shades to add a subtle touch of colour (including our superbly autumnal crimson-red labels, orange-red labels, yellow labels, and brown Kraft labels) and five fluorescents if you’re looking for a burst of colour to brighten up the autumn months. Our pastel coloured labels can be printed with all kinds of desktop printers (inkjet or laser) or handwritten for that truly personal finishing touch, while our fluorescent labels can be printed with laser printers or handwritten.

Alternatively, if you’re looking for something to finish of your homemade arts and crafts projects, you should definitely take a look at our range of brown Kraft labels; these wonderfully decorative labels have a ribbed finish, which gives them a subtle touch of pattern and texture, while their natural brown colouring is perfect for any craft project (as well as the autumn season). These labels can also be printed with laser printers or inkjet printers and are also perfect for handwritten (or hand drawn) designs.

Find these labels here: Coloured Labels (Pastels + Kraft) // Fluorescent Labels // Kraft Labels

Freezer Labels & Wash Off Labels
In addition to taking on some crafty projects to avoid the gloom of the winter months, you may also be turning your attention to the creation of seasonally savoury and sweet dishes for the colder days ahead. With this in mind, you may find yourself in need of some self-adhesive labels that you can use to label up your ingredient containers and all of your bottles, jars, boxes, and bowls that you need to use to hold all of your delicious delights!

We have two products that are particularly useful for food and drink applications – namely our Freezer Labels (ideal for all those foods that you need to store away for a later date) and our Wash Off Labels (perfect for labelling all of the containers you need for ingredients and the finished product).

Our freezer labels are made with a special adhesive developed specifically for deep freeze conditions; standard adhesives often fail to sustain – or even create – an adhesive bond at cold temperatures, while deep freeze adhesives can be used to label all kinds of items that are already frozen or that will be frozen at a later date. Our freezer labels will work at temperatures of between -40°C to +60°C and are supplied as matt white paper labels (with that all-important deep freeze adhesive) that can be handwritten or printed with a laser printer.

Please note that we do NOT recommend printing our freezer labels with an inkjet printer as inkjet inks are generally water-based, which means your print will run or smudge if it comes into contact with condensation or other sources of water.

Our wash off labels, meanwhile, are also made with a specially developed adhesive designed to create a strong permanent adhesive bond that will break down when exposed to water; this means that you can safely and securely label containers before washing them (to cleanly remove the label without damaging your containers) so that you can reuse and relabel your containers again and again (and again!). Our wash off labels can be handwritten or printed with any desktop printer (laser or inkjet) and are matt white paper labels with that special wash off adhesive.

Splashproof Labels & Waterproof Labels
Finally, if you’re looking for some heavy duty labels that can withstand a bit of exposure to the great British weather during the autumn months, you might want to try our Waterproof Labels. All of these labels are made with synthetic materials (polyester, polyethylene, or polyolefin) and are therefore completely waterproof; this makes these labels ideal for any indoor or outdoor application where they might be exposed to (or indeed immersed in) water – a useful property if you’re looking for labels that can be used during the autumn months. Three of our waterproof labels (MWP, MWPE, and MWPO) are made with a special marine adhesive that meets the BS5609 part 2 standard for marine immersion, which makes these labels perfect for outside applications (and all of the environmental challenges that go along with being outside during a British autumn).

All of our waterproof labels MUST be printed using a LASER printer to produce fully waterproof labels (i.e. so that the labels AND the print you add onto them are both waterproof); laser printers use a dry printing process to bond a dry powder (toner) to the medium being printed, which produces waterproof print – inkjet printers, however, tend to use inks that are water-based, which means your print will run or smudge if it gets wet (or even if it is simply handled a lot).

You can print both our MWPE and MWPO labels with a laser printer or an inkjet printer but only a laser printer will produce waterproof print. To create waterproof print with an inkjet printer you would either need to find a way to add a protective layer over the top of your print (for example, by sticking a transparent label over the top) or you would need to source specialist inks and a printer that can produce waterproof inkjet print.

As a cheaper alternative, we offer “splashproof” labels; these labels are made with paper – meaning that they are NOT waterproof – but have a gloss or semi-gloss coating that offers limited protection against water, which allows them to be wiped clean and dry if they are accidentally splashed with a bit of water. So, if you don’t need a fully waterproof solution, our GW and SG labels offer budget friendly alternatives that will do the job you need them to just as well as our more durable synthetic labels.

Like our waterproof labels, you will need to print these labels using a laser printer (and not an inkjet printer).

Picking The Perfect Labels For Your Summer Foodie Projects

Wednesday, July 19th, 2017

Summer is the perfect time for making all sorts of sweet and savoury goodies to enjoy while you (try to) enjoy a bit of summer sun. Whether you’re a home-baker or home-brewer making a few seasonal delights for friends and family or you’re a restaurant or café looking to create a selection of succulent snacks to satisfy summer shoppers, you’ll probably need a few extra labels to get all of your ingredients and products labelled up before they’re handed out.

This blog takes a closer look at the Label Planet labels that are just perfect for labelling food and drink products.

Freezer Labels
Best For: Frozen Foods
If you’re making ice creams or desserts that need to be stored in freezer conditions then our freezer labels are the ideal choice. These paper labels are made with a special freezer adhesive that is suitable for use in temperatures ranging between -40°C to +60°C and was specifically developed for deep freeze label applications (in which other standard adhesives tend to fail).

These white labels can be handwritten or printed using a laser printer; we don’t recommend using an inkjet printer, as the water-based inks will be likely to run and smudge when they are exposed to condensation.

We have eight label sizes available to order for same day despatch from stock, with a further thirty-six label sizes available as made to order bulk boxes.

Water Wash Off Labels
Best For: Labelling Ingredients / Reusable Containers
Water wash off labels are a brilliant solution to the problem of needing to securely label a container (so that the contents can be identified at all times) before removing the label without damaging the container (so that the container can be cleaned and reused).

Our wash off labels are paper labels with a special “wash off” adhesive; this is permanent adhesive creates a strong bond with a surface BUT also breaks down when it is exposed to water (so it doesn’t leave behind any adhesive residue or damage the surface). This means that you can safely and securely label food and drink containers so that their contents are clearly identified and then wash the labels off before reusing and relabelling the containers as required.

Again, we have eight label sizes available for same day despatch from stock, with thirty-six additional made to order label sizes.

Waterproof Labels
Best For: Labelling Drink Bottles
If you need labels for drink bottles that are likely to be exposed to condensation or ice, you may want to consider using waterproof labels; these labels will not be damaged by exposure to water or other liquids, which will allow your labels to remain firmly in place and completely legible for the entire length of the application.

These labels need to be printed with a laser printer in order to produce waterproof print and we have a variety of materials options to help you find the perfect label for your products. You can choose between white labels or transparent labels and we also offer options for a gloss finish (a shiny finish) or a matt finish (a dull, non-shiny finish).

We supply seventeen label sizes of waterproof labels as stocked items (packs of 25 sheets available for same day despatch), with a further twenty-seven label sizes available as made to order items (boxes of 500 sheets).

You can view ALL of our label materials on our All Materials page, download a label template from our Label Templates home page, and you can also Request A Sample of any of our label materials to make sure that you pick the perfect stickers for your summery snacks.
