Ply - What does ply mean?

Definition of PLY:

A term used to refer to a single layer in a multi-layered material, structure, or construction.

A close up of corrugated cardboard sheets made up of three to five layers. Each sheet has a flat ply for the top and bottom layers with wavy ply in between (the five layered sheets have an additional flat ply between two wavy ply).
