A Bit Of A Pitch Problem

Templates – as we always say – can be tricky at the best of times and even we get challenged by the settings and amendments needed to get things just right.

So we wanted to blog about the measurements involved with setting up a label template, to help our customers avoid getting confused.

These are the measurements and quantities you’ll need when you’re setting up or adjusting a label template:

Top Margin
– The distance from the top of the sheet to the top of the first row of labels

Side Margin(s)
– The distance from the left edge of the sheet to the left edge of the first column of labels and/or the distance from the right edge of the sheet to the right edge of the last column of labels (usually the side margins are the same, but some labels will have an offset layout, which will mean the two side margins are different)

Vertical Pitch
– The distance from the top of the first label to the top of the label beneath it (including any gap between the two labels)

Horizontal Pitch
– The distance from the left edge of the first label to the left edge of the label next to it (including any gap between the two labels)

Page Size
– The size of the sheet that the labels are carried on (usually A4)

Label Height
– The height of each label

Label Width
– The width of each label

Number Across
– The number of labels in each row

Number Down
– The number of labels in each column
