How To Make Window Stickers With Transparent Labels From Label Planet

Our transparent labels are the perfect way to make your own window stickers. Read on to find out how to create window stickers using transparent labels and (mirrored) label templates.

Which Transparent Labels Should I Use?

At Label Planet, we supply FOUR different kinds of transparent labels. The one you choose depends on the adhesive type, finish, and level of permanency that you want for your window stickers.

Transparent Labels – Laser Versus Inkjet

Your first choice depends on what type of printer you have available to print your transparent labels. Three of our ranges are laser labels that must be printed with a laser printer (GTP, GTR, and MTP). The other – GCP – is a range of inkjet labels that must be printed with an inkjet printer.

As an interesting sidenote – if you opt for our GCP material, you can also create transparent “white” boards. Write or draw on our GCP with whiteboard markers and you can wipe it away and start again.

Transparent Labels – Permanent Versus Removable

Next you need to decide if you want your window stickers to be permanent or removable. Again, three of our ranges are made with a permanent adhesive (GCP, GTP, and MTP). The fourth – GTR – is made with a removable adhesive, which means that you can remove your window stickers easily and cleanly (i.e. with no sticky mess).

You would be able to remove the permanent labels eventually with a bit of effort. This is likely to leave behind adhesive residue, however, which you would need to remove with a solvent or adhesive remover.

Transparent Labels – Gloss Versus Matt

Three of our transparent label ranges have a gloss finish (GCP, GTP, and GTR). This means that they reflect light very efficiently and have a bright and shiny surface. The other (MTP) has a matt finish; this is less efficient at reflecting light, which creates a duller surface finish.

If you need your window stickers to be easy to read at a glance, you may wish to opt for a matt finish. The matt surface is less likely to create glare that could potentially obscure your printed message.

What Label Templates Should I Use?

You can use standard label templates to create window stickers – unless your stickers are to be stuck onto the “inside” of a window and viewed from the “outside”. This is because “normal” designs will only read correctly when viewed from the inside. You could have bespoke transparent labels made with your required print added to the underside of the transparent face material (so they read correctly from the opposite side). Alternatively, you can use a mirrored label template, which mirrors or reverses your design so it reads correctly when viewed from the opposite side.

You only need to do this if your design contains directional elements, such as text or directional arrows.

At Label Planet, we provide mirrored Word label templates for all of our label sizes. Navigate to the template information page for your label size. The mirrored labels templates are listed under the Word Templates column. You can choose a portrait or landscape orientation (where applicable).

If you wish to create your own mirrored label template, you can do so by filling in a standard label template and reversing the elements in your design. In Word, you can do this by clicking on your item and then clicking on the Picture Tools or Drawing Tools Format tab at the top of the page. Use the Flip tool to reverse images and shapes. To reverse a text box or WordArt, you will need to click on Shape Effects, select 3-D Rotation and 3-D Rotation options, and then set the X Rotation value to 180°. This will usually add a grey background to text boxes. You can remove this by selecting the text box, clicking on the Drawing Tools Format tab, and changing “Shape Fill” to No Fill (or a colour of your choice!).
