Here's everything you need to know about the measurements of label templates.
Templates can be tricky things at the best of times but if you get the measurements wrong, there is simply no way that your template will ever work.
So, here's a quick fire guide to the measurements and quantities you’ll need to get right when you’re setting up or adjusting a label template:
- Top Margin
The distance from the top of the sheet to the top of the first row of labels - Side Margin(s)
The distance from the left edge of the sheet to the left edge of the first column of labels and/or the distance from the right edge of the sheet to the right edge of the last column of labels (usually the side margins are the same, but some labels will have an offset layout, which will mean the two side margins are different) - Vertical Pitch
The distance from the top of the first label to the top of the label beneath it (including any gap between the two labels) - Horizontal Pitch
The distance from the left edge of the first label to the left edge of the label next to it (including any gap between the two labels) - Page Size
The size of the sheet that the labels are carried on (usually A4) - Label Height
The height of each label - Label Width
The width of each label - Number Across
The number of labels in each row - Number Down
The number of labels in each column
